Kim Kardashian: Post-Christmas Shopper

Taking advantage of the day-after Christmas sales, Kim Kardashian was spotted imbibing in a little retail therapy in Los Angeles on Friday (December 26).

Sporting a sexy pulled-back hairdo, the “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” starlet browsed the racks at Neiman Marcus, charging up a few items on her American Express card before continuing on with her day.

Meanwhile, Kim was busy earlier this week sticking up for her brother Rob Jr, who was accused of attacking a gay employee by Courtney Love.

“Rob Jr. cold socked and punched my employee right in his face for no reason and broke his nose after my guy was hanging out with his pal Brody Jenner one night outside Hyde lounge,” Love wrote of the alleged incident in a mostly incoherent blog post.

Calling the claims totally false, Kim responded: “A lot of what she wrote doesn’t even make much sense and doesn’t follow a clear train of thought. At one point she says Brody was there too and that someone yelled discriminatory expletives against gay people, but I honestly can’t figure out who she is accusing because her writing is so bad.”

Kim continued: “All I know is that both Brody and Rob didn’t do anything close to what Ms. Love has described.” She added: “We will forward this terrible nonsense to our attorneys.”

Since Miss Kardashian’s response, Courtney has posted another message saying that what she said about Robert Jr. was, indeed, untrue.

Paris Hilton and Brittany Flickinger: Snow Bunnies

Continuing to provide the Aspen paparazzi with plenty of material, Paris Hilton and her BFF Brittany Flickinger were spotted out and about yesterday (December 26).

The “Simple Life” hottie and her best gal pal looked to be having a marvelous time as they made their way around town, smiling for the shutterbugs all the while.

And Miss Hilton was looking her best as usual, sporting an animal print top layered over a green shirt with tan trousers and a pair of faux fur-lined boots.

According to witnesses, the girls enjoyed all that Aspen had to offer in the way of retail therapy opportunities, shopping the swanky boutiques all over town.

Lindsay Lohan and Sam Ronson: So Happy Together

Though drama always seems to follow these two wherever they go, yesterday (December 26) looked to be a good day for Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson.

Getting their daily dose of caffeine, the “Mean Girls” actress and her deejay girlfriend were spotted hitting up the Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf in West Hollywood, California.

At one point, LiLo leaned over and gave Sam a full-on hug as they returned to their chauffeured SUV, both ladies looking lovely in their matching black leather jacket.

Miss Lohan was also spotted indulging her inner-bargain-shopper at a post-Christmas sale at Neiman Marcus department store yesterday afternoon.

As for their Christmas celebration, Lindsay and Samantha were spotted dining at Twin Dragon Chinese restaurant before hitting up a dive bar in Los Feliz.

Katie Holmes and Suri: Night Out in NYC

Still burning the candle at both ends, Katie Holmes was spotted outside her Soho apartment last night (December 26) along with her daughter Suri Cruise.

The “Mad Money” mommy continued to show signs of exhaustion as she passed the paparazzi, sporting some serious dark shadows under her eyes presumably from her grueling Broadway schedule.

In related news, Katie’s hubby Tom Cruise has been getting mixed reviews for his role in “Valkyrie,” with critics either loving or hating it.

An AP review reads, “He’s distractingly bad- the iconography of his celebrity so strongly overshadowing his performance,” while another critic mused that Cruise is, “too modern, too American and way too Tom Cruise to make sense in the role.”

On the brighter side, The Washington Post praised, “Even Cruise, whom many doubted could carry off the aristocratic elan of the blue-blooded von Stauffenberg, manages his part respectably, with a combination of ramrod posture, starched costumes and minimalist acting.”

Gwen Stefani’s Post-Christmas Cheer

Enjoying some family time in the afterglow of Christmas, Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale were spotted taking their songs Zuma and Kingston to an after-Christmas shindig yesterday (December 26).

The “Hella Good” songstress and her “Little Things” rocker hubby looked a bit worn out by the holiday festivities as they toted their two little ones past the paparazzi.

Speaking of kids, Gavin recently cleared up a rumor regarding his eldest’s moniker, telling press, “The stuff you read on Wikipedia especially is such rubbish. They have some stranger as my mother and the family names are all wrong. I’d like to complain to Mr. Wikipedia. How do you do that? Kingston is named for Kingston, Jamaica, not Kingston Ferry. So it’s really not that traditional. At least I don’t think there are a lot of kids named for Kingston, Jamaica.”

And it seems little Kingston is already showing signs of his musical genes. “He likes anything with a good beat. He’s big into drums. He likes my record. He likes Gwen’s record. He plays some Pharrell and Snoop. Anything that’s good for head-bobbing. He’s a good head-bobber.”

The Year That Was: August 2008

Everyday this week, we’ve been reminiscing about the most important celeb events from 2008. Today we’ll be discussing such stars as Kerry Katona, Gary Glitter and who can forget the divine Peaches Geldof. So what did Peaches get up to in August 08? Well…

And They Said It Would Never Last

Once again, Peaches Geldof was shocking the nation when she announced that she’d married Max Drummey, in a tacky "low-key" Las Vegas wedding ceremony. Why would she have done such a thing, we pondered? Ah, that’s right – apparently the star married American-born Drummey so she could get a VISA to live in the States. Still, we’re surprised she managed to make her marriage work until the end of the year. How much longer do you reckon they’ll stay together for?

Jade Goody Rushed To Hospital

Controversial reality star Jade Goody was rushed to the Princess Alexandra hospital in Harlow, Essex after she collapsed at her home. At the time Jade’s agent told the press her illness was a complete “mystery”, but a few weeks later the star was informed by doctors that she was suffering from cervical cancer.

Paris For President

Back when Barack Obama wasn’t President elect, and there was some old white haired-guy vying for his job, Paris Hilton decided she’d do something really funny by making a short video outlining her own amazing plot to become the US President. We all laughed hysterically… at her acting skills.

Christina Applegate Battles Cancer

In a desperate bid to battle breast cancer, which she discovered following an MRI scan, Christina Applegate had a drastic double mastectomy. Later that month the actress announced that after successful surgery she was “100% free” of the disease.

It Just Wasn’t Meant To Be

Despite rumours in the press of potential marriage and family plans, Jennifer Aniston and John Mayer announced that they had broken-up. Shortly after their split loud-mouthed John told a group of paparazzi that he was the one who ended their relationship. Apparently that wasn’t true, so soon after John made the spurious claims, pals of Jennifer stepped forward to set the record straight. According to them Jenn ditched John because he was (in no particular order) cheap, attention seeking and a liar.

Still he can’t be all that bad because by October the Friends actress reunited with her rocker boyfriend. Maybe she likes stingy people who lie a lot and have to be the centre of attention all the time.

Reality TV Gone Too Far??

After collapsing in her home a few weeks earlier, suffering from a “mystery illness”, Jade Goody jetted to India where she was due to star in the Indian version of Big Brother or Big Boss as it’s known over there.

It was supposed to be the reality TV star’s opportunity to make amends for the allegedly racist comments she made to Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Bother in 2007 sadly, a day into filming and Jade was called into the diary room where she was given the devastating news that she was suffering from cervical cancer.

Kerry Katona Declared Bankrupt

Poor Kerry, she’s not had an easy year has she? Just four months after she gave birth to her son Max, Kerry was declared bankrupt at the Royal Courts of Justice in London after she failed to pay an outstanding £157,000 of a £417,000 tax bill.

All That Glitters Does Not Shine

Shamed seventies pop star Gary Glitter arrived back in the UK, much to the dismay of the press (and the nation) after serving nearly three years in a Vietnamese prison for sexually abusing two girls. The convicted paedophile flew into Heathrow airport where police escorted him through immigration and customs. Later that day Glitter appeared in court and was served an order, which officially put him on the sex offenders register - for the second time.

Zuma Nesta Rock?

Sorry was that the name of a new fizzy beverage? No. The name of a sweet perhaps? Sadly not, actually it’s the name of Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s second child who was born in LA on the 22nd August. Lucky he’s got super famous parents or he wouldn’t stand a chance at school!

Now make sure you stay tuned for September because there’s plenty more where that came from. But while you're waiting why don't you reread of our round-up of July 2008.

Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly reveals she is pregnant with second child

Daly, 37, who already has a four year old daughter called Phoebe, with husband Vernon Kay, told relatives the good news over Christmas.

"We are over the moon about the prospect of a new addition to our family," she said.

"We're very much looking forward to having a brother or sister for Phoebe to play with," she told the Sun.

Vernon Kay, Family Fortunes presenter and Radio 1 DJ, 34, added: "It's such a gift. We're so happy and overjoyed."

Last month Daly dismissed any reports of the pregnancy and said: "No I'm not, it's just a fat belly. Leave me alone."

But on the Strictly Come Dancing special on Christmas Day she showed clear signs of a small baby bump as she hosted the ballroom entertainment show with Bruce Forsyth.

She wore a Grecian-style floor-length grey silk gown which led to discussions about whether she was expecting another child.

Reports already have suggested that Daly may give birth just in time to host the seventh series of the BBC1 dancing hit.

The Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special was won by Jill Halfpenny and Darren Bennett.

Halfpenny, who won the 2004 Strictly Come Dancing competition, beat this year's Strictly winner Tom Chambers, Lisa Snowdon and Rachel Stevens and previous years contestants Alesha Dixon and Kelly Brook.

Tributes paid to Eartha Kitt

Miss Kitt died in New York, where she was being treated for colon cancer at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. Her hits included Santa Baby and Let's Do It, but she was best known for her portrayal of Catwoman in the Batman television series of the 1960s.

Her publicist, Andrew Freedman, said: "She was certainly a legendary performer and while I think there may have been many imitations, she was an original."

She was one of the few artists who have been nominated for Tony, Grammy and Emmy awards.

Among others paying tribute were the Green party in Australia after she helped save the Franklin River in the 1980s.

The Greens leader, Senator Bob Brown, said: "Ms Kitt visited Tasmania and spoke out in favour of saving the Franklin River and gave a great boost to the campaigners in their darkest hour.

"It was a brave thing for her to do and her contribution was important to saving Tasmania's great wild river."

Miss Kitt was diagnosed with cancer two years ago. It was treated but recurred after a period of remission.

She refused to give into the disease, brazenly continuing to flaunt her attributes. In a 2007 interview she said: "I show my legs. I love to tease men with my legs.

"I love men and I like to get their attention. Every time I see a man, I want to tease him."

Earlier this year she was touring in Britain and appeared well. According to her official website, she had US dates announced as far ahead as November next year.

"She came back strongly. She had been performing until two months ago," Freedman said.

Miss Kitt was born in South Carolina in 1927 and there has been much conjecture over the years over her parentage. In her autobiography, she wrote that her mother was black and Cherokee while her father was white, and she was left to live with relatives after her mother's new husband objected to taking in a mixed-race girl.

One who always enjoyed playing on her seductiveness, she revelled in her "sex kitten" image. Orson Welles once called Kitt "the most exciting woman alive" and, along with Lena Horne, she was one of the first African-American sex symbols.

Miss Kitt picked up a string of awards during her long career, winning two Emmys and being nominated for a third, as well as a Grammy. She also had two Tony nominations.

Her most famous song, Santa baby, was recorded in 1953 and went gold this year. Mr Freedman said that she received the gold record before she died.

He said despite her awards, she was at her best in her nightclub act, which allowed her to use her feline, seductive manner to its fullest.

"She loved cabaret performances," Freedman said. "If there was ever an opportunity to do a small intimate venue with about 150 people, that was always her preference."

About to Pop: Miranda Cosgrove

Who: Miranda Cosgrove
Album: 'iCarly (Music From and Inspired By the Hit TV Show')
Single: 'About You Now'
Hails From: Los Angeles
For Fans Of: Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez

Why She's About to Pop: Miranda Cosgrove got her start before most kids know how to read. A talent agent saw the precocious 3-year-old sing and dance in a Los Angeles restaurant and signed her immediately. She eventually got gigs in print and commercial advertising, which led to roles on television shows. Her big break came when she was chosen to star as Summer Hathaway in the hit Jack Black comedy 'School of Rock.' Cosgrove then played Megan Parker on Nickelodeon's 'Drake and Josh,' which led to her own series, 'iCarly' on which she plays Carly Shay, the main character, who produces a Web show with her friends. Now, at age 15, Cosgrove is showing the world her musical talent on the 'iCarly Playlist,' which not only features hit songs from established pop artists but also includes original material performed by Cosgrove herself. 'iCarly' airs on Thursdays at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon.

Eight Questions with Miranda Cosgrove:

Who is your biggest inspiration as a singer?

I have too many inspirations to name them all, but to name a few I really like Gwen Stefani, Pink, the Beatles, Coldplay, the Killers, Paramore, Kelly Clarkson and Lily Allen. I'm not really sure that my music sounds like theirs, but they all really inspired me.

What is your favorite song from the 'iCarly Playlist'?

'About You Now' is my favorite song that I got to sing, but I also really like 'Girlfriend,' by Avril Lavigne.

If we looked on your iPod, what would we be surprised to find?

I'm actually a big fan of Blondie and Aerosmith.

If you could only do one -- acting or singing -- which would you choose?

I honestly can't decide between singing and acting because I love both so much. I've been acting longer than I have been singing and I really love getting into characters and getting to be someone you're nothing like, but I also love singing and writing songs because it's much more personal.

What was it like working with a huge movie star like Jack Black at such a young age? Were you intimidated?

It was really amazing getting to work with Jack Black. He was a really great guy and one of the funniest guys I've ever met. I was really lucky to get to act with him and I was only 9 when I was in the movie. It was a cool experience since it was one of my first roles.

On your TVshow you play an Internet star -- are there any blogs or Web sites you are addicted to?

I love the Web site addictinggames.com [http://addictinggames.com] because it's full of free games that are superfun. I love going on there when I'm bored. My all-time favorite Web site is YouTube. I always lose track of time and watch videos for hours. Especially music videos.

Who is the coolest guest star you got to meet on the set of 'iCarly'?

I got to meet David Archuleta recently when he was on 'iCarly.' I really enjoyed getting to work with him because he was so down-to-earth and funny. Also, I'm a big fan of his music.

What's the weirdest thing you keep in your purse/bag?

I keep a GameBoy Lite in my purse. It's not the weirdest thing in the world, but I do feel a little dorky when I pull it out with all my games.

Cheryl Cole's SWAT team

Cheryl Cole is being given her own SWAT team for Christmas.

Akon has been sentenced to 65 hours of community service for harassing a fan.

The Senegalese-born rapper pleaded guilty to throwing a teenage boy off stage during a New York concert last year and was told he would avoid jail by completing the community service and paying a $250 fine.

Akon - real name Aliaune Thiam - shook hands with the now 16-year-old victim, Anthony Smith, after entering his plea and apologised to him and his parents, but refused to comment on his sentence.

His lawyer issued a statement saying: "We are pleased the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him."

We are pleased the case has been resolved and Akon looks forward to putting this unfortunate incident behind him.

According to witnesses at the June 2007 concert, which took place at New York's Duchess Stadium, a spectator threw something on stage, sparking the incident.

After asking the crowd to identify the culprit, a security guard picked out Anthony, then 15, and sent him up to the stage, where the 'Lonely' star hoisted him onto his shoulders and threw him into the crowd.

One concertgoer claimed to have suffered concussion when the boy landed on her.

Amy Winehouse's TV addiction

Amy Winehouse is "addicted" to a bizarre UK TV game show.

The 'Rehab' singer is obsessed with watching BBC programme 'Hole In The Wall', which sees two teams of celebrities contort their bodies to fit through strange shapes cut into a giant foam wall. If they can't get through, they are plunged into a pool of freezing water.

A source said: "Amy is addicted to 'Hole In The Wall'. She reckons it's the greatest TV show she's seen in years. Obviously, this year she hasn't had the busiest work schedule so she has spent a lot of time in front of the TV."

The 25-year-old drug-addicted singer loves the costumes contestants wear - skin-tight silver bodysuits - and has even asked producers if she can appear on it.

The source added to Britain's The Sun newspaper: "She has asked producers to star in an episode, they're giving it some thought but are understandably in two minds as to whether she is the right person for prime-time viewing."

Amy is not the first star to reveal a penchant for a BBC show this week.

Kate Winslet's co-star's thrill

Kate Winslet's 18-year-old co-star says their sex scenes got "better and better".

David Kross has revealed the 33-year-old actress banished any awkwardness from their intimate scenes in 'The Reader' by telling jokes.

Kross said: "In the beginning I was really, really nervous but it got better and better and we started to make jokes. Kate said that after the scenes were over we'd laugh about them and that's true."

The young German actor had very limited acting experience when initially cast as Michael Berg - a 15-year old school boy, living in 1950's West Germany, who falls in love with Winslet's character Hannah Schmitz.

But despite his age, Kross knew the sex scenes had to be "done properly" and couldn't have had a better co-star.

He continued to Britain's Daily Mail newspaper: "She's one of the best actresses to do such scenes with as she's done it before and knows what she is doing. I was grateful to her for that."

'The Reader' is based on the eponymous 1995 German novel by Bernhard Schlink. The 2008 film adaptation, written by English playwright David Hare, was directed by 'Billy Elliot' director Stephen Daldry.

Honeymoon Over for Speidi's Fake Marriage?

Brace yourselves, Hills fans: There's a chance that the Speidi wedding no one bought (unless you count whatever Us Weekly paid for that cover) may end up being legally binding after all.

That is, if Spencer Pratt can be trusted. And that's a mighty big if.

Despite mounting evidence the fun couple's alleged courthouse ceremony, endlessly teased on MTV's latest Hills promos, is shaping up to be as legit as their Mexican marital maneuvers, Pratt himself is trying to set the record straight.

"We checked the confidentiality box, so good luck people," he told E! News' Ryan Seacrest in an interview that will air Monday on his KIIS-FM radio show.

But that's not necessarily the case...

Aside from trying to believe that Pratt and his maybe-missus, Heidi Montag, would ever try to keep anything on the down-low, per California law, every marriage is public record. Pratt's vaunted confidentiality box merely keeps the wedding date private, not the record of the actual blessed event.

And so far there is none.

"We can confirm a confidential marriage if it's one that exists," a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder tells E! News. "We don't have anything for them in the system."

While the preview for next Monday's Hills season finale shows the duo standing before a judge and Montag spouting what appear to be traditional vows, the clip appears to be like much of the show: staged "reality."

Los Angeles Superior Court spokesman Allan Parachini confirmed to E! News that MTV was granted permission to film in the Beverly Hills courthouse. But the session took place after regular business hours and, per Parachini, the ceremony that played out in the Hills preview clip is not typical—or, like their Mexican vows—legally binding.

"We can confirm that the wedding, or whatever it was, that occurred in the Beverly Hills Courthouse was Mr. Pratt and Ms. Montag," Parachini told E! News. "What the outcome was or what happened during the ceremony is none of the court's business. It was a private matter. I don't know what transpired.

"All I know is what MTV said...a news-related shoot."

Parachini also noted that the judge seemingly presiding over the affair was not associated with the L.A. court system. He did not know what association the man might have.

We're guessing SAG.

The Office: Is Jim Halpert Getting Married?

America's most eligible bachelor may be getting hitched—and soon!

But settle down, fangirls. Even though John Krasinski was just spotted on what appeared to be a date to the movies with rumored girlfriend Emily Blunt, implying that he may well be off the market, the wedding we're talking about is on TV, on that awesome little show called The Office.

After a rocky start, Jim and Pam are happily engaged. Jim bought a house for her and everything is going beautifully. So the next step has to be a wedding, right? Well, happily, there's a new piece of casting that makes me think Pam and Jim might be getting married sooner than we think...

Yesterday, The Office posted a casting notice for a character coyly described as "Pam's Relative."

This character is described as being "a nice man" in his early 50s. He's a middle-class guy from Scranton, Penn., and he "could be similar in stature to 'Roy' (David Denman)." Roy, of course, was Pam's first fiancé, and we've all heard the old saw about women gravitating toward men who remind them of their fathers...

I have a very strong suspicion that this "relative" is actually "Pam's dad." And what do you need a dad for? To be walkin' you down the aisle, that's what!

In the premiere, Jim did imply a swift move to the altar when he said, "Pam's always said she doesn't want a long engagement. Something in her past I guess. No really sure of the whole story but something about a guy who used to work here..."

Wedding rumors! I'm starting them now! What do you think? Wishful thinking in this holiday season of joy and wishes? Or time to hit Crate & Barrel for a wedding present? Post in the comments, where you can also join me for a group hug over the apparent end to Krasinski's single status...

Desperate Shocker: Gale Harold Not Coming Back?

Unhappy Gale Harold Desperate Housewives news. Here's the latest scoop from Wisteria Lane involving motorcycle accident victim Harold, who's recovery may not be as speedy as people think.

How so? Well...

"He's really very majorly injured," remarked a source close to both Harold and the Desperate Housewives set. "I don't believe he'll be coming back."

When we contacted Desperate Housewives central, there was no comment regarding the too sad news. However, other sources close to the production (whom creator Marc Cherry just surprised the merde outta by announcing—and which we broke—that he wants to stay around for seasons eight and nine), told us, "We have an open door for Gale" to return.

Harold's rep insisted there's nothing to be concerned with regarding her client: "He is fine. Your source is wrong," the publicist stated. When asked to elaborate on exactly what Harold's condition is and whether or not the supernice stud is headed back to Wisteria Lane, she refused comment.

I hear that door ain't gonna be swingin' for some time. Heal fast, Gale, we miss ya!

Jada Pinkett & Will Smith Snow Some Holiday Lovin'

Will Smith wants you to know that when he's missing in action over the holidays, you can blame his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

"Jada is a little crazy about Christmas," he said today on Good Morning America.

The Seven Pounds star wasn't just referring to trimming a tree and handing out presents. She loves snow, he explained, and begins researching—by watching the Weather Channel, natch—a location to spend the holidays three months in advance.

"It's all about wherever we can get snowed in," he said.

Smith also shared a little more about his wife's unusual stance on seeing her husband film a sex scene with someone else.

"I don't want anyone to think I'm taking this time for some legal cheating," he said.

Jada, he claims, feels that "whatever you give her is what they're gonna think you give me."

Heath Ledger, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie Rate SAG Noms

The Heath Ledger Oscar moment seems ever closer.

The late Dark Knight star earned the near-mandatory Screen Actors Guild nod as nominations for the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards were announced this morning.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie were among the other top film nominees; Leonardo DiCaprio and Clint Eastwood weren't.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Doubt, Frost/Nixon, Milk and Slumdog Millionaire will vie for SAG's equivalent of Oscar's Best Picture honor: best motion-picture cast.

A certain Batman blockbuster was notable, if not surprising, in its absence from that lineup.

Just as with last week's Golden Globe nominations, The Dark Knight was denied a shot at the top film prize—and a chance to bolster its Oscar credentials.

The Dark Knight's strongest Oscar contender continues to be Ledger, who's up for SAG's supporting actor honor against Milk's Josh Brolin, Tropic Thunder's Robert Downey Jr. (no longer a surprise awards-season entry), Doubt's Philip Seymour Hoffman and Slumdog Millionaire's young star, Dev Patel.

As at the Globes, Pitt's up for lead actor for Benjamin Button. His competition: Richard Jenkins, for the art-house hit The Visitor; Frank Langella, for Frost/Nixon, Sean Penn, for Milk, and Mickey Rourke, for The Wrestler.

Jolie matched real-life partner Pitt's nomination with one of her own as lead actress for Changeling. Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married), Melissa Leo (Frozen River), Meryl Streep (Doubt) and Kate Winslet (Revolutionary Road) fill out the field.

Winslet picked up a second individual nod in the supporting actress field for The Reader. Also nominated in that category: Doubt's Amy Adams and Viola Davis, Benjamin Button's Taraji P. Henson and, per usual, Vicky Cristina Barcelona's Penélope Cruz.

Doubt led with five overall nods. Milk and Benjamin Button scored three each.

Last year, all but five of SAG's 20 individual acting nominees went on to earn Oscar nods—a stat that can't be comforting to the awards-season managers for Eastwood, who isn't in the SAG running for Gran Torino, and DiCaprio, who wasn't nominated for Revolutionary Road, as he was at the Globes.

Other notable Globe nominees who didn't cut it at the SAGs: Tom Cruise, denied for Tropic Thunder; The Reader and Revolutionary Road, denied in the outstanding cast category; and critical favorite Sally Hawkins of Happy-Go-Lucky.

Though shut out of the best cast race, The Dark Knight did pick up a stunt ensemble nod. But then so did Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Iron Man and Wanted, and nobody expects those movies to vie for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.

Actors' strike or no, the 15th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards are scheduled to be presented Jan. 25.

"Doubt" tops SAG film nominees amid strike talk

Film drama "Doubt" led all nominees for Screen Actors Guild awards on Thursday with five nominations overall, including for best ensemble cast, even as talk of a possible strike cast a cloud over the awards.

Joining "Doubt," about a Catholic priest and nun engaged in a battle of wits over charges of sexual abuse, in the race for best ensemble cast were "Milk," about slain gay rights leader Harvey Milk, and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," which tells of a man who ages backward. Those movies each earned three SAG award nods.

"Slumdog Millionaire," a tale of romance and money set in India, and "Frost/Nixon," which recounts the interviews of disgraced former U.S. President Richard Nixon by British TV host David Frost, also saw their actors land in the race for best ensemble cast and pulled down two nominations apiece.

The Screen Actors Guild represents some 120,000 film and television actors, and winning a SAG award at the group's January 25 ceremony can give actors momentum heading toward February's Oscars, the world's top film honors which are given out by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

But overshadowing this year's race for awards is talk of a possible strike by SAG actors against the major studios.

Current contract talks between the two groups have stalled, and SAG leaders, including President Alan Rosenberg, have called for a vote to authorize a possible work stoppage in the hope that such an authorization would restart negotiations.

In recent days, leading actors, including Russell Crowe and Robert Redford, have become the latest big-name celebrities urging SAG members to vote "no" on the authorization. Still, other major stars like Mel Gibson back SAG leaders in their drive to obtain a strike authorization. Voting begins January 2.

"I'll be honest, I'm not as optimistic as I'd like to be, but we're getting there," Rosenberg told reporters about rallying SAG members to vote "yes." He strongly defended the strike authorization as a necessary "tool" for bargaining.

Hollywood is still reeling from a work stoppage by writers in late 2007 and 2008 that brought most TV production to a halt and cost the Los Angeles-area economy an estimated $3 billion.

BRAD PITT NOMINATED

While talk of a strike overshadowed SAG nominations, the awards remained the focus of many Hollywood watchers.

The SAG race for best actor in a movie will see Brad Pitt, who plays Benjamin Button, competing against Frank Langella for his portrayal of Richard Nixon and Sean Penn as Harvey Milk.

Joining them are Mickey Rourke, who is enjoying a comeback as a faded sports star in "The Wrestler," and Richard Jenkins in the low-budget immigration drama "The Visitor."

The best leading actress race has Meryl Streep, who plays the nun in "Doubt," up against Kate Winslet as a frustrated housewife in "Revolutionary Road" and Angelina Jolie as a mother fighting to find her lost son in "Changeling."

Along with those three in the best actress race are Anne Hathaway in "Rachel Getting Married" and Melissa Leo for the independent film "Frozen River."

Nominees for supporting actor in a film included Philip Seymour Hoffman as the priest in "Doubt," the late Heath Ledger for "The Dark Knight" and Dev Patel in "Slumdog Millionaire. They were joined by Josh Brolin in "Milk" and Robert Downey Jr. in the comedy "Tropic Thunder."

Rounding out the nominees for best supporting actress were Amy Adams and Viola Davis in "Doubt," Penelope Cruz for "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," Winslet for "The Reader" and Taraji P. Henson in "Benjamin Button."

SAG also gives awards for television and, as in the film arena, SAG split its nominations among a variety of shows.

Competing for best cast in a TV drama are "Boston Legal," "Dexter," "House," "Mad Men" and "The Closer," and nominated for best comedy casts were the actors in "30 Rock," "Desperate Housewives," "Entourage," "The Office" and "Weeds."

Just a Minute With: Mickey Rourke on film comeback

U.S. actor Mickey Rourke knows all about the dark side of Hollywood -- a bad-boy reputation meant years of rejection for a man who, in the 1980s, was a star with a great future after turns in "Diner," "Rumble Fish" and "Angel Heart."

After 15 years as a struggling actor, during which he returned to his boyhood love of boxing, the 52-year-old made a tentative comeback to the movie mainstream in the comic book adaptation "Sin City" in 2005.

But it is his performance in Darren Aronofsky's "The Wrestler" that really has impressed the critics, who, along with Rourke himself, say it is his best performance to date. On Thursday, he was nominated for best actor in a film drama by the Screen Actors Guild, to go along with his Golden Globe Award nomination.

His portrayal of a down-and-out wrestler struggling to stay in the limelight while fighting his own personal demons has strong echoes with Rourke's own tumultuous life.

Rourke spoke to Reuters earlier this year at the Venice film festival, where "The Wrestler" won the coveted Golden Lion award for best picture.

Q: What made you want to act in "The Wrestler?"

A: "I would say the day that I met Darren Aronofsky, he was really forthright and honest with me. He says, 'Look, you've fucked up your whole career for 15 years, you're a great actor but everybody's afraid of you. I've got a movie and I want to do it with you.' And he goes like this: 'I want you to hear me: you have to listen to everything I say, you have to do everything I tell you, you can't go out all night long, you can't disrespect me and I can't pay you.' I thought, he must be really fucking good to have the balls to say that to me.

"I had heard through the grapevine that he has a very large brain, that he doesn't compromise, that he's his own man and I thought, well, that's my kind of guy. And I met him, and he was in my face and I read the material. It was a little scary to me, because after meeting him I realized he's going to want me as an actor to ... tap into very painful dark places that I don't know if I really want to re-visit, not getting paid. Because of the way I work, I go to those places, go into places where I have to tap into some painful shit about my father, my wife, my brother ... I'll be a basket case when I'm done with the movie, which is actually exactly what happened.

"And then I got replaced and they wanted like a $20 million actor, the financiers, I was down in Miami training three hours a day trying to put on 25 pounds. These guys (wrestlers) are really big. I actually went, 'Oh God, I'm so glad, now I don't have to work with that son of a bitch.' And then about a month later my agent calls and says 'You're back in,' and I'm like, 'Oh fuck.' There was a part of me that went, 'You know what, if I want to reclaim my career, and really have a chance to show what I should have shown 15 years ago this is the man to do it."

Q: Where do you rate this performance in terms of your career?

A: "People for the last 15, 20 years would say, 'What's the favorite movie you've ever done, what's your best work?' And I would say 'I haven't made it yet.' And I can honestly say right now, the best fucking movie I've ever made is this. Three of the hardest movies I ever made -- 'Nine 1/2 Weeks', 'Angel Heart' and 'Year of the Dragon' -- and you could take all three of those movies and roll them into one and it wouldn't have been as hard as this. I'm not a young man any more, and this has nothing to do with my training as a boxer. This is a whole other sport. So everything I learned as a fighter is thrown out the window. I had no respect for the sport (wrestling), really, to be honest (...) But you know what, when a guy weighing 265 pounds picks you up and throws you across the ring, if you haven't had the training, it hurts. Your teeth rattle, every bone in your back hurts, and then you've got to do it again.

"I bet I gained respect for what these guys do, for what their sport is. It's never going to be my favorite sport, but they have to be athletes. And the majority of them end up half (...) crippled at the end of the day because they lived that life and they hurt themselves for the crowd. Even though it's entertainment, they really get hurt. We got three months of wrestling practice and I had in the first two months three MRIs (scans), my back went out, my knee went out, my neck went out. This is hard. But if I didn't do all that there was no way I could pull this off."

Q: Are you surprised you have managed to stage what critics are calling a major comeback with this film?

A: "When I went back to the boxing for five-and-a-half, six years and I had to retire for a couple of reasons (...) I really didn't want to go back to the acting. And then I realized it's the only thing I can do. And then I realized they didn't want me any more, because I'd burned bridges, I didn't handle myself as a professional, there was just too much anger and luggage that I carried around. And then people were afraid of me for all the right reasons. I mean I really fucked up worse than you can imagine. If I would have known it was going to take me 15 years to get back in the saddle I would have made some sort of attempt to behave differently. I just didn't know how. Fortunately I was able to surround myself with people who were able to help me with the pain that I had."

Q: The parallels between your character in "The Wrestler" and your own life will not be lost on audiences.

A: "It was one of the reasons I was happy with the replacement, because I didn't want to go there, because there's a lot of shame attached to being put on the bench, there's a lot of shame to "We don't want you any more, you're not 28 any more, there's the new boys coming up.' Fuck the new boys, I can do what they can do. (...)

"You get to a certain place and they want to put you out to pasture, you know? But there's some men that just aren't ready to go. When they said to me your career's over I said, "Oh yeah? God will tell me when my fucking career's over, not you.'"

Q: What about your reputation for being difficult on set?

A: "A guy like me changes hard, I didn't want to change, but I had to change, because I cultivated a strength that was really a weakness (...) I didn't want to change really, because everything I had built myself up (into), the whole macho kind of thing, was really a weakness and I thought I would be less of a man if I change. It was hard, painful. Once I said, 'You know what? All that strength is really a weakness, it's OK that Darren yells at me. You know, he's the boss.' You have to be a team player. It's OK for me now at this point in my life to play ball, to be a team player."

Paul McCartney, Britney Spears top "Idol" wish list

Former Beatle Paul McCartney and pop star Britney Spears are at the top of Simon Cowell's celebrity wish list as possible mentors on the upcoming season of "American Idol."

But the chances of getting McCartney to appear on the most-watched American television show seem slim.

"We try every year to get Paul McCartney on but for whatever reason he won't come on," the British judge told reporters on a conference call on Wednesday.

Cowell said he would welcome the chance to see Spears on the show, which returns for its 8th season on January 13. The singer is on a comeback roll with a No.1 album and upcoming tour after almost two years of personal woes.

"She would be first on the list. I would love to see her mentor the contestants. But if she doesn't want to do that and she wants to come on the show to perform, I would welcome her any time," Cowell said.

He said he would also like to see Beyonce and would welcome back singer-songwriter Lionel Richie and movie director Quentin Tarantino, who was a guest judge in 2004.

"American Idol" has produced some bonafide stars since its 2002 debut, including Grammy award winners Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.

Former contestants Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks were both nominated earlier this month for Grammys.

"I absolutely love it when that happens," Cowell said. "There is so much snobbery in the music business about what we do on this show. So I think it is fantastic."

Khloe Kardashian on fur: 'I'm not a hypocrite'

After posing nude for a recent PETA campaign, pictures have been surfacing online of Khloe Kardashian's prior love of fur. On her blog, she's taken umbrage with such accounts and wants all of her five fans to know she's been reformed:

The reason PETA approached me initially is because in my past I did wear fur and they wanted to educate me on the brutal ways in which animals are skinned for their pelts. After watching their video once, I was so horrified that I immediately swore off fur. The cruel treatment I saw had a great impact on me and I am deeply hurt that people are trying to criticize me for uneducated choices I made in my past that I now regret terribly.
I do know there are tons of photos where I am wearing fur pieces so this is to be expected, but I just wanted to let you know the real story behind my conscious decision and compassionate change of heart.
I have changed my ways and I hope that many other people will as well.

Khloe then added:

In the meantime, should I be seen to be wearing fur in the future, I hope you'll understand that this is just me not having time for a full-body shave that day. I'm sure you ladies know where I'm coming from. Hey, we're all human - except for me because my father banged a Yeti.

XOXO,
Khloe.

(You know, that girl in that sex tape who get peed on? Yeah, her.)

I swear, she writes with the elegance of a modern-day Maya Angelou.

Brad Pitt Says His Brood Is Not Spoiled!

You may imagine that Christmas at the Jolie-Pitt house is just an embarassment of riches. Tons of ridiculous presents everywhere, like a full-size train set that runs through the house like Ricky Schroeder had in Silver Spoons, but Brad says it's not so.

"We do exchange gifts, although we don't feel any pressure to make them big or expensive gifts," Brad told Hello.

The actor said that he and love Angelina don't allow their kids watch cartoons, where they could be enticed by ads for over-the-top toys.

"When they do see that stuff is when they start asking for the toys, so we figure if they don't see them, they won't know they're there. So we have gifts, but we try to keep the money spent to a minimum," he said.

Brad revealed that they even make gifts for each other.

"The rule is that everyone's got to make something for someone else, you got to put time into it," he said. "Then, when they give to each other, it's really sweet."

Totally nice and thoughtful and in the holiday spirit. But, if we're being honest, and it's a toss-up between a Maddox's homemade macaroni ashtray and Ricky Schroeder's train, you're going to hear a big "Choo Choo!" from this girl.

Mindy McCready is one troubled lady.

The country singer was hospitalized yesterday, after an alleged suicide attempt in Nashville.

"We responded to a '10-63,' that's a suicidal person call. Mindy McCready was at the house," a police spokesperson said. "Apparently she called the mother of her roommate and said some things that caused the mother concern."

When police and paramedics arrived at a home where Mindy was staying, they found that she had cut her wrists. She was immediately taken to the hospital.

This poor girl has been such a mess for the last bunch of years. She's been in and out of jail, confirmed she had a longterm affair with Roger Clemens that began when she was just a teen, lost custody of her son, and spent some time in rehab this summer.

She needs serious, serious help.

Jennifer Aniston continues to battle Tom Cruise for 'Most Overexposed Star of The Week'

Jennifer Aniston, in her epic quest to be goddamn everywhere I look, stopped by Letterman last night where she bestowed upon Dave the conveniently placed tie from her nude GQ photo shoot. (Have you heard about that? I mean today - for the hundredth time.) Anyway, here's a short transcript of the exchange: JENNIFER: This is an early Christmas present. DAVE: Oh, my. Get a close-up on this, will ya? That is the tie. JENNIFER: Well, put it on. *claps* DAVE: I would, but it seems to be giving off an overpowering scent of vinegar and water. JENNIFER: What? The last person who had it - JOHN! JOHN MAYER: *sings offstage* I magically play the guitar, let me put my penis in you... JENNIFER: Yes, master. DAVE: Yes, master. JOHN: Damn, overshot that one. *sings* David Letterman, put your pants back on... Video after the jump.

Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen Plan A Spring Wedding

Model Gisele Bundchen may be a spring bride! Although New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady hasn't been able to play this season due to a knee injury, he hasn't been just laying around; he's been planning a wedding with Gisele.

'Tom and Gisele want to hold an exclusive ceremony in Costa Rica, their favorite place in the world,' an insider tells Star. 'They are ready to spend the rest of their lives together.'"

The couple have been dating for a year. But the reason they are reportedly waiting until spring is not because it's a romantic time of year. It's to avoid tying the knot during the football season.

He thinks that as long as his teammates are still playing, they deserve the spotlight, not him."

Since this is Star magazine, I'm not sure I'd actually buy a present just yet, but I'll keep an eye out for wedding registries!

Emma Watson Will Never Move To LA

Well, Emma Watson herself says "never say never", but you can tell the actress doesn't agree with the stereotypical Hollywood lifestyle by reading the below quote she gave to AOL Moviefone.

Emma says that actors in London are not permitted to act entitled, and if they do, the public will put an end to it. That is something she respects and loves being a part of. Hollywood just isn't for her.

"Never say never, but I can’t imagine it. I think that it’s a wonderful lifestyle that you have here - the weather is amazing and everyone seems very healthy. It seems like a really nice place to live.

"Obviously, if I had a film here or whatever, then that would be great. But I don’t really know a lot of people here.

And what about celebrities that are the same age as her?

"Gosh, I could never be that bitchy! I think that living in England, it’s very disconnected from Hollywood. There’s a very different approach and attitude towards it. Acting in a starry way is just not tolerated. You will just have the piss taken out of you. People will just laugh at you."

Do you agree with what Emma is saying about Hollywood culture?

Simon Cowell Says American Idol Will Remain The Same

Will Paula Goodspeed's suicide have a dramatic effect on the way American Idol moves forward with their upcoming season? Not at all say judge Simon Cowell.

"I have thought long and hard about this…I think we will continue in the way we have always done. We have tried to have a sense of humor. The show is not an inherently mean show.

"It is an American dream show where the whole purpose is to find somebody who through the process becomes a star. It is helpful showing people the process that, if you’re not very good, don’t spend years trying to do something you’re not very good at doing."

Simon only wishes that he knew about Paula's condition. He says the producers would have tried to help her - not exploit her.

"My regret is that we didn’t know how troubled this person was. If I could have gone back in time and known what she was going through, we could have then tried to help her, but we genuinely didn’t know."

What do you think? Should American Idol change Simon's blunt approach to shooting down dreams? Or is his realistic voice exactly what some contestants need to hear?

Victoria Beckham Gets Her Inspiration From British School Teachers

Ever wonder where Victoria Beckham pulls from for fashion guidance? School teachers!! The Spice Girl says she looks to her old disciplinarians for fashion inspiration.

"I love pencil skirts and fitted blouses, classic-cut dresses and well-fitted jeans, mixed with classic tailoring. I’m very British in my style - think school teacher! It’s always good to know what suits you.

Your signature style is whatever makes you feel happy, confident and sexy. Of course, it’s always good to mix things up now and again too.

So does the singer turned designer have any fashion tips for her fans?

Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Are Staying In France And Have No Prenup

All this traveling has finally taken a toll on the Jolie-Pitt family. They've made a decision and are sticking with it (for a few weeks). The clan will pack up their bags, move to their French estate and call it home for "long term".I'm not sure what long term means to Brad, but I'm going with it.

"I’ve been dragging them all from continent to continent lately, so we’re going to have to give them a break soon. For the long term, right now, we’re choosing France. It’s good living there, a really nice way of life. It’s a place where the kids can run free and not be hassled - we have a good relationship with the locals, and it’s a good base for the family."

And in case you heard about Star Magazine's report of a $200 million pre-nup, just wanted to give you the heads up that the story is false.

A representative for Jolie has slammed the reports, telling Us Weekly.com, "There is no truth to any of these claims." Pitt recently admitted he would consider marrying Jolie "if we feel it’s important to our kids."

I love how quickly reps are shooting down stories these days. Celebrities are starting to claim back the truth. Now all we have to do is get Angie to start blogging on MySpace and we will be good to go!

Ben Affleck At The Gimme Shelter Annual Christmas Benefit

Ben Affleck attended the Annual 'Gimme Shelter' Christmas Benefit in West Hollywood, California yesterday evening along with human rights activist Rose Mapendo. It's always heart warming when people gather together to remind us all what being 'human' is all about.

While this isn't related, I've been watching 'Secret Millionaire' and I have to admit it's really affecting me. It's so easy to turn a blind's eye to problems just a few feet away from where you live. While my town if fine, a few miles away there are people suffering in poverty. Bill and I are actually looking into what we can do for our "neighbors" this week. Every bit helps.

Catherine Zeta Jones to be the next Doctor Who?

Writer and executive producer Russell T Davies suggested a female Timelord to replace David Tennant when he leaves at the end of next year.

"Catherine Zeta Jones would be great," Davies said of the 39-year-old Oscar-winner, adding that her Welsh heritage - she is Swansea-born - was in her favour. The show is filmed in Cardiff and Davies himself is Welsh.

Signing her up would make television history because women have been relegated to the role of the Doctor's companion since the BBC One sci-fi show began in 1963. Joanna Lumley was once tipped to take over from Tom Baker in the 1980s, but the part went to Peter Davison instead.

Other women linked to the role of the 11th Doctor are Billie Piper, who played Tennant's assistant and proved highly popular with viewers, Lesley Sharp, another Davies favourite, and Georgia Moffat, who had a cameo role in the show earlier this year as the cloned daughter of Doctor Who and also happens to be Davison's daughter.

Davies also supported the idea of a black Doctor Who, whether male or female. "The more it's talked about, the more likely it is to happen," he said. Colin Salmon and Paterson Joseph are names in the frame.

The writer revived the show in 2005 but leaves next year, so will play no part in choosing Tennant's successor. The Scottish actor will appear in four special episodes in 2009/10 before bowing out.

Auditions are already under way, but Davies said persuading an actor to take on the role can be a lengthy process. "Whoever becomes the Doctor has to take on a whole life, it's not just taking part in a TV show. It's a lot of soul-searching to do."

He was speaking at a preview screening of the Christmas Day special. It is titled The Next Doctor and co-stars David Morrissey - teasing viewers with the possibility that Morrissey could be a contender for the role.

Tennant recently underwent back surgery, forcing him to withdraw from the West End production of Hamlet until after Christmas. However, Davies said he was confident that the actor would be fit enough to start work on the first special episode next month. "We will be very careful with him. The problem has been fixed but I don't think we'll be swinging him on a wire on his first day back."

Anthea Turner told to demolish tennis court at £5million home

The news comes days after the former GMTV presenter disclosed she could be forced to sell the 57 acre estate in Godalming, Surrey, following the collapse of her husband Grant Bovey's £100 million property empire.

Planning officials said that Turner, 48, had treated regulations with "contempt" by building the AstroTurf court – complete with pavilion and floodlights – without permission.

The host of BBC3's The Perfect Housewife had asked for retrospective permission to be approved to allow her to "get on with the more important issues of surviving the credit crunch".

But on Wednesday evening Waverley Borough Council officials ruled that Turner's financial problems did not merit an exception, raising the possibility of a costly public inquiry in April.

Cllr Steve Renshaw said: "I do sympathise to some extent with the considerable expenditure that has obviously been undertaken in this regard. But it's a matter of principle and we need to treat it in the same way as a man with an illegal summerhouse in his back garden that cost a couple of thousand."

Cllr Jim Edwards said: "They have treated the planning process with contempt and it should not be allowed."

In September, Turner and Bovey, 47, were handed an enforcement notice ordering the removal of the court after councillors ruled in February that it contravened planning policy to protect the countryside in the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The couple had offered to tear down the floodlights, screen the clubhouse and tennis court with wisteria and plant trees along the boundary of their estate, which also includes stables, polo field and cinema.

Turner even wrote to her local MP Jeremy Hunt, asking for help resolve the dispute.

"On both sides this is all costing a considerable amount of money, something which is not in abundance at the moment," she wrote.

"The quicker we can resolve this situation the quicker everyone can get on with the more important issues of surviving the credit crunch. I don't expect any preferential treatment but would dearly like any guidance on how I can remove this matter from my worry list."

Bovey's buy-to-let company Imagine Homes was taken over by HBOS, its financial backer, in October after business dried up.

"We have had to re-evaluate our lives. I don't think a £5m mansion makes you happy," Turner said earlier this week.

Carry On actor Jack Douglas dies aged 81

Douglas had been ill for a few years but died at 7.15am on Thursday on the Isle of Wight, in Hants, where he lived with his partner Vivien Howell.

He made his name as the nervous and fidgety Carry On character Alf Ippititimus with his famous "Phwaay!" catchphrase.

In later life, he was a regular on the theatre and pantomime circuit.

His agent and friend Phil Dale said: "Jack was one of those lovely people who came from the world of comedy and understood comedy timing in the sense of the old British tradition of farce, which is seldom done these days."

Douglas was born in Newcastle upon Tyne and worked in the theatre before appearing in the last seven Carry On films of the original series, including Carry On Matron, Carry On Abroad, Carry On Girls, Carry On Dick, Carry On Behind, Carry On England and Carry On Emmanuelle.

His role grew from a cameo with one line of dialogue in Matron to a leading role in Emmanuelle.

He also appeared in the Carry On Christmas specials in 1972 and 1973, the Carry On Laughing television series and in the revival film Carry On Columbus in 1992.

He guest-starred in an episode of The Goodies and became a stooge for the likes of Bruce Forsyth, Arthur Haynes and Benny Hill.

His character Alf Ippititimus was also a regular with Des O'Connor in variety shows and pantomimes during the 1960s.

Douglas came from a theatrical family and initially followed in his father's footsteps as a producer, putting on his first show at the age of 15.

He showed no interest in performing until he stood in for one of his actors who was ill.

He enjoyed it so much, he decided to perform instead of produce.

He loved jazz music, enjoyed cooking in his spare time and wrote a book, The Whey-Hey Guide to Better Cookery.

He also wrote a musical, What A Performance, about the life of comedian Sid Field, and his own autobiography, A Twitch in Time.

Student DJs sacked for claiming Des O'Connor's daughter was a porn actress

Lewis Grewcock, 20, and Sam Foster, 22, made the untrue allegation about Kristina O'Connor, 21, on the Birmingham University station Burn FM.

They were apparently trying to be satirical.

Both have now been banned from appearing on the station, although they have not yet been formally disciplined by the university authorities.

Kristina O'Connor is the daughter the entertainer's third wife, Swiss model Jay Rufer. She is in her final year studying Italian and Spanish at the university.

The pair of DJs, both final politics students, made the allegation earlier this month on their Sanctuary Radio Hour Show. They have since lost the slot after the station's student committee decided to take them off the air waves.

Mr O'Connor, 76, said he and Kristina had dismissed the students' comments as "puerile nonsense".

A university friend told the Daily Mail: "I think they might have been inspired by Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand's infamous remarks on their show, but all they were doing was upsetting people and making outrageous comments for shock value."

The university's student union, called the Guild, has decided not to take any action.

However, a university spokesman said the matter was being investigated.

He said: "We take allegations of this nature very seriously. The investigation is still ongoing and it would be inappropriate to comment any further at this stage."

Mr Grewcock has said: "Ours was a satirical show that poked fun at the way student news was presented in student media and we hoped that our listeners would not take our comments literally."

David Tennant could star in Doctor Who musical version

Tennant , who will next be seen in a BBC Christmas Day special, is due to leave the show in 2010.

But he still has four more "specials' to record in the New Year, before the 11th Timelord takes over.

Dr Who mastermind Russell T Davies, who is a fan of classic Hollywood musicals, especially Doris Day's Calamity Jane, wants to bow out with show stopper, it is understood.

And John Barrowman - who plays Captain Jack Harkness - and is a West End star, wants to return for the episode.

Tennant said: "Doctor Who, the musical has been mentioned.

"I would be up for it. I love a song and dance." He added that Barrowman - who has appeared in several shows by Andrew Lloyd Webber - was the keenest member of the cast on the idea.

But they would not be taking it on the stage. Tennant is currently recovering after a back operation which forced him to pull out of the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of Hamlet in London, said in a radio interview he would not be tied down for a long run.

"The thing about a musical is you have to commit for a year and a half and it's eight times a week." However a musical episode could see the return of Billy Piper, a former 90s popstar, and even Kylie Minogue.

Tennant, who has played the 10th doctor since 2005, has only one other project announced for next year. A film version of Stephen Poliakoff's 1939, in which he plays Hector.

"They kindly called it a cameo, but it's really a very small part." In the meantime fans have been asking him for the inside information on the next Timelord's identity.

And mischievously he has been tipping his friend, and former Cold Feet actor James Nesbitt.

"They're just coming up to me and saying 'Who's next?' That's all that anybody's asking me.

"It's Jimmy Nesbitt who will be taking over. Jimmy Nesbitt got into touch to say 'please tell them it's not me. I spend all my day going round saying its not me, I couldn't take over from David.' "I would urge the public of Britain that if they see Jimmy Nesbitt in the street to go up and congratulate him." Tennant said he wants to take a souvenir keep-sake on his last day as Dr Who.

"I might try and take something - they will never give me the sonic screw driver, 'cos it costs a fortune and they'll need it. They have got two, but I break them quite a lot." In the Christmas Special set in Victorian England Tennant faces the threat of the Cybermen.

Russell T Davies, who revived Dr Who said in a recent interview that a female Dr Who might be a strong possibility. "I think kids will not have a problem with a female Doctor." There has been speculation before. Joanna Lumley was once tipped to take over from Tom Baker, but Colin Baker got the job.

A spokesman for BBC Wales in Cardiff, where Dr Who is filmed, said: "We cannot comment, as it would spoil fans' pleasure."

J-Lo's marriage 'on the rocks'

The singer and her husband have both been spotted without their wedding rings.

J-Lo, who gave birth to twins ten months ago, was spotted without the ring at an LA movie premiere.

Mr Anthony, 40, fuelled the rumours further when he was seen chatting to women in New York and Las Vegas nightclubs - also without his ring.

The singer reportedly moaned that 39-year-old J-Lo had been "making me miserable".

One source told The Sun newspaper the couple were now at "breaking point", adding: "They are both getting bored.

"She wanted this domestic life, but now she's bored out of her mind. She wants the old J-Lo back."

It is also claimed J-Lo is struggling with Marc's "controlling" ways, including keeping tabs on her phone calls.

Magazine Us Weekly reports that the couple, who renewed their wedding vows in October, showed signs of strain during a Thanksgiving dinner with relatives in LA last month.

This week, however, they put on a display of unity while heading out together for dinner at Beverly Hills restaurant Luau.

Marc's publicist denied their marriage was in trouble, saying: "They're doing great."

J-Lo's spokeswoman was unavailable for comment.

Earlier this year J-Lo admitted she had suffered a "nervous breakdown" at the height of her fame.

She said reached breaking point during filming of the 2002 thriller Enough, in which she played a battered wife.

Rachel Stevens injured ahead of Strictly Come Dancing final

The former S Club 7 star, who is a favourite to win the competition, hurt her back in a fall during practice with partner Vincent Simone.

It is understood Miss Stevens, 30, is undergoing emergency treatment in order to be well enough to appear on the programme.

A source on the show said: "Rachel is having emergency physio and is taking pain-killers. It couldn't have come at a worse time because she's desperate to be fully fit for the final.

"She has been struggling with her back and all the lifts haven't helped. However, she really jarred it after falling heavily. It's a real shame.

Rachel is the bookmakers' favourite to scoop the dancing prize at odds of 6/4, ahead of Holby City star Tom Chambers and model and presenter Lisa Snowdon.

The programme has already faced a storm after a voting controversy last weekend. All three couples were put through after the judges' votes meant that Chambers could not be saved – even with the help of the public telephone votes.

The BBC decided to scrap all votes, prompting 1,687 viewers to email a complaint and 193 to telephone in. The corporation said it would offer refunds to viewers and the "fairest option" was to allow the combined scores of the judges and audience to carry over to the first of two shows.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood blamed fellow judge Len Goodman for the voting fiasco because his "mean marking" of Rachel Stevens resulted in her tying at the top with Miss Snowdon, 37.

BBC presenter Jonathan Ross in Christmas lights battle with neighbour

Nick Robeson has pledged to make it a disappointing end to 2008 for Ross, 48, who has been criticised for obscene phone calls to Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

The £6m-a-year BBC presenter was suspended from his job and had paparazzi camped outside his door after the radio stunt with Russell Brand went badly wrong.

Last year Mr Robeson, of well-heeled Hampstead Garden Suburb, north London, was outraged by Ross's yuletide spectacular winning over his two sons Ben, eight, and Edward, six.

The management headhunter has now thrown down the gauntlet as he goes head to head with his high-profile neighbour.

Nick said: "Last year it was a bit of a joke – Jonathan Ross vs. us.

"This year with all of his pressures, Jonathan's gone for more of the same as last year but after going to Las Vegas we've decided to push the boat out a bit.

"I've done something a little extra – I've got an 8.5ft bear and its cub as well as lights across the house and hedges."

Although the conservative suburb has its own trust, which often blocks alterations to the appearance of properties, the locals love the new decorations – which also include illuminated reindeer.

He said: "Already this year people are putting notes and chocolates through the door thanking us.

"Christmas is a time to relax, smile and have fun and in this marketplace it is particularly important.

"If this puts a little smile on people's faces then I am absolutely delighted with it."

Even if Mr Robeson doesn't manage to steal Mr Ross's decorating crown, he has at least won his two most important fans back.

His youngest son Edward said: "The lights are bright and colourful and lots of neighbours stop to look at them, someone even dropped sweeties through the letterbox.

"I want more lights next year so it's even more colourful."

Eddie Murphy 'to play Riddler in Batman sequel'

Murphy, 47, star of Beverly Hills Cop and The Nutty Professor, has reportedly been signed up by British director Christopher Nolan for the Dark Knight sequel.

The role, played by Jim Carrey in 1995's Batman Forever, had been linked to Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp.

Actress Rachel Weisz is also being tipped to play Catwoman, a role linked previously to Angelina Jolie.

Movie executives have also allegedly signed up Transformers and Indiana Jones actor Shia LaBeouf to play Robin, although Nolan has previously stated he would not want Batman's sidekick in any of his adaptations.

Nolan has so far given no outright indication that he will continue directing the franchise, successfully relaunched with Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader.

But the third movie, following Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, is reportedly being developed under the working title Gotham, and is set for a 2010 release.

A film insider told The Sun: "Chris wasn't sure if he wanted to do another movie but as soon as he decided to, he got the wheels in motion.

"Eddie's a fantastic addition. Everyone's excited to see what he does as the Riddler."

Heath Ledger, who played The Joker in The Dark Knight and died in January, aged 28, last week won a Golden Globe nomination for his scene-stealing performance. He is also tipped to receive a posthumous Oscar.

Now, who would buy themselves a pink Bentley for Christmas? Hmm…

Oh, it must be fun living your life as if you were a Barbie doll. Especially if you have the money to buy yourself real Barbie-style accessories, instead of miniature ones from Woolworths (RIP). So, it doesn’t take a genius to guess that Paris Hilton is the person who’s given themselves a little – OK, rather massive – gift for Christmas, in the shape of a pink Bentley (although we suppose Jordan would be a hot contender too). The car cost $200,000 (around £130,000) and Paris says it’s a dream come true. “I’ve just always wanted a pink car,” she says. “I think when you’re a little girl and you have the Barbie corvette you’re always like: ‘Oh I wish I had a car like this one day.’ So I think it just comes from being a fan of Barbie for so long. This is a car that I cannot drive every single day but I will be driving a lot.” Well, we’ll certainly see her coming…

Simon: 'I want Britney to be a mentor'

Despite the lukewarm reception (and that’s putting it kindly…) that her appearance on The X Factor got, Simon Cowell says he’d welcome Britney back any time – and even wants her to be a mentor on American Idol. “I would love to see her mentor the contestants,” he says. “If she doesn't want to do that, but wants to perform on the show – I would welcome that at any time. She would, literally, be first on the list, as far as I'm concerned in any capacity. She was a riot. I loved it. The buzz we had on our show was extraordinary. And even with all that stuff that's gone on with her the past two years, there was more excitement and interest in her than I've seen in anyone in years. She would be very, very welcome.” OK, we get it – Simon hearts Britney. He’s also revealed that Paul McCartney has refused to come on American Idol or The X Factor every year. No wonder Heather Mills divorced him.

Sorry, but nobody has a hope of beating Alexandra to Christmas number one

We’ve just been told that 59 per cent of the British public (according to an AOL poll of 26,000 people) believe that the late Jeff Buckley’s version of Hallelujah will beat Alexandra Burke to number one. But, based on current sales figures, they’re wrong-diggedy-wrong. The latest midweek figures have just come in – and now that Alexandra’s single is available on CD as well as digitally, it’s sailing ahead even more than it was before. It’s sold just under 290,000 copies so far – while Jeff Buckley’s version currently sits at number three with just over 45,000 sales. He could end up knocking Leona off number two though – she’s only 1,000 or so ahead. The power of The X Factor is truly staggering – and there’s more evidence of that a little further down in the chart. Beyonce has two tracks in the top ten – her current single If I Were A Boy (at number four in the midweeks) and her Dreamgirls song Listen – yes, the very same song she performed with Alexandra at The X Factor final, which is currently at number six. Amazing. The final Christmas countdown will be announced on Sunday night – but all those Jeff Buckley fans need to put their money where their mouth is if they really want him to keep Alexandra off number one.

Who wore it best – Carmen or Kim?

Ooh, it seems these two American stars have frighteningly similar taste. Not only did both Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian wear the same D&G ruffled dress, but they picked the same shoes and hairstyle as well – spooky. Do you think they're copying each other just to make it into Who Wore It Best?! Anyhoo, Kim wore hers at a launch party in Hollywood, while Carmen chose it as she promoted Disaster Movie in Rome. So, do you prefer Kim’s body-hugging look or Carmen’s looser look?

Wow, look at this totally unposed, utterly spontaneous snowball fight…

Here at heatworld, we’re a little confused. Our top secret bunker is located in Covent Garden, but through the tiny square of glass that the Big Cheese lets us look out of when we’ve done all our sums, we can see a blue, slightly cloudy sky and a dry, concretey ground. So, we’re bemused as to how I’m A Celeb “stars” Nicola McLean, David Van Day and Timmy Mallett managed to have a snowball fight in, according to the information we’ve just received, the very same Covent Garden. We know there's that whole climate change thing going on, but we didn't realise two different kinds of weather could exist within 100 feet of each other – the things you learn, eh? Still, it’s so nice that they’re all lifelong friends who like to lark about together when they’ve got a bit of spare time, isn’t it? Just look how happy they are! Doesn’t it warm your heart? We’re sure it isn’t fake snow, and they’re not being paid to do this by the people at Yahoo. Because that would mean that we live in a calculated, corporate world where old-fashioned pleasures have been dismissed in favour of cold hard cash and blatant promotional opportunities. And that would make us very sad indeed.

PS. Perhaps the snowy scene would have been more convincing if Nicola had worn a coat.

Girls Aloud not impressed by their GMTV performance – but what do YOU think of it?

This is exactly why we love Girls Aloud – they’re just so honest! This morning, the girls’ appeared on Fiona Phillips’ last ever GMTV show, but when they performed their next single The Loving Kind live in the studio, it was a little shaky – and they knew it! If you watch the performance, you’ll see Cheryl giving Sarah a funny look when she sings slightly off-key – and afterwards, the girls make a joke about singing live. Are they being hard on themselves, or was it a bit lame? Do your best Simon Cowell impression and tell us exactly what you thought of it...

Nicole “will have no more children” after playing the didgeridoo on TV. Apparently.

Uh-oh, Nicole Kidman is not popular with Aboriginal groups after playing their traditional instrument, the didgeridoo, on a German TV show earlier this week. She’s been criticised by leaders of the Australian tribe, as custom dictates that women are forbidden to play the instrument as it will leave them infertile. “People are going to see Nicole playing it and think it's all right,” says Aborigine language teacher Richard Green. “But it will mean she has no more children. It is not meant to be played by women as it will make them barren.” Allen Madden, cultural and educational officer at the Aboriginal Land Council in Sydney, added, “I presume she doesn’t know, otherwise she wouldn’t have been playing it.” Blimey. And there we were innocently giggling at hearing a German person says “didgeridoo” – who knew the whole thing would cause such a stink?

Posh says she dresses like a schoolteacher. Er…

Maybe we went to a really boring school, but we don’t ever remember seeing our teachers wearing rubber leggings and six-inch stilettos (but lord only knows what went on in the staff room at lunchtime). However, Victoria Beckham reckons she dresses like a quintessentially British school ma’am. Right. When asked in a new interview if her look has been influenced by Hollywood glamour since living in Los Angeles, she said “It hasn't, not at all. I am very British in my style. Think school teacher. I love pencil skirts and fitted blouses, classic cut dresses and well-fitted jeans mixed with classic tailoring.” OK, so Posh does dress like that sometimes, so we suppose we’ll let her off. She also says she’s influenced by retro fashion. “The 1950s icons had such class,” she says. “I love the glamour and sophisticated style of Jackie O and Audrey Hepburn.” How do you think Posh looks best – skintight and vampy or tailored and classic?

J-Lo and Marc take off their wedding rings

We've always thought these two were one of the most enduring showbiz couples around, so we were shocked to hear reports that Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's marriage is on the rocks. The Latino singer and her husband have both been pictured at official events without their wedding rings on, and there are also claims Marc has been seen chatting to a number of other women while out in a Vegas club. The couple only welcomed their first children, twins Max and Emme, ten months ago, but now sources close to the couple are saying J-Lo has become "bored" with her domestic life. One source said, "She wanted this domestic life, but now she’s bored out of her mind. She wants the old J-Lo back." Marc is said to be fed up with J-Lo making him miserable, while she is tiring of his reportedly "controlling" ways. Oh dear, there's mud being slung everywhere. However, neither Jen or Marc has commented personally on the rumours, and Marc's publicist has now issued a statement saying the pair are "fine". We do hope they can work things out – they've always seemed like a great couple.

God, Jordan can be such a cow sometimes...

Even though it’s the season of goodwill and all that, some celebs just don’t want to bring festive cheer to the world. Step forward, Katie Price. The one-woman endorsement juggernaut was continuing her quest for world domination yesterday at the launch of a new nightwear range for Asda, when she got her stomach out. While Katie is no stranger to getting her boobs/bum/bits of gratuitous flesh out, the flesh-flash was a rather nasty dig at I’m A Celeb star and WAG Nicola McLean. Mum-of-one Nic was promoting her new underwear range for Ultimo the previous day, and showed off stretch marks on her stomach – and very kindly (um, joke) Jordan’s taken the time out to show us despite having three kids, her midriff’s still as pristine as it was pre-baby producing. Miaow. We don’t know about you, but we think Jordan’s turned her spat with Nicola all a bit playground… it’s Christmas, girls – can’t you just let this feud lie?

Kate Moss signs up for another three years at Topshop

Kate Moss signed up for another three years at Topshop today.

The model will continue to design clothes for the high street store and add lingerie and accessories to her collections.

The mum-of-one signed her first deal with the shop in 2005 and has had eight collections under the name Kate Moss for Topshop, since.

The fashion retailer is owned by billionaire Philip Green, who is also a close personal friend of 34-year-old Moss. (Continues below gallery of Kate's Christmas 2008 collection...)

He commented: “Having had two years experience, I am confident that Kate’s collection now has the potential to become a significant global brand within Topshop.”

Her spring 2009 range will go on sale in March next year and be available at a new store in New York’s Soho district.

Kate said she was “really looking forward to working with the Topshop team” again and thanked everyone who had bought an item from the range.

Columbo actor Peter Falk struck down with Alzheimer's disease

And when Columbo star Peter Falk suddenly stopped as he walked away from a suspect, turned and said "Just one more thing..." audiences knew the villain was about to be hooked.

Now, tragically the 81-year-old star has Alzheimer's disease. Daughter Catherine this week filed court papers claiming Peter's condition is so bad he is unable to look after himself.

She says he needs "full-time custodial care" and is worried he can "be deceived into transferring away property".

A hearing next month will decide whether Peter should be taken under court protection to guard him against potential fraudsters. In April, the man who became famous as the detective in the shabby coat, was seen "raving" near his Beverly Hills home.

He was dishevelled, longhaired and stumbling into traffic. Police eventually took him back to his family.

At the time they insisted nothing was wrong and said Peter was due to start work on a new movie soon. But now Catherine, a private detective and one of Peter's two adopted daughters, has admitted he is unwell.

Peter, who has had a glass eye since childhood after surgery on a cancerous tumour, last appeared on screen in the 2007 film Next with Nicolas Cage.

Titanic stars Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio look even more suave ten years on

It was a decade ago that Titanic launched Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio as huge Hollywood stars.

And the pair are still larging it on the A-list - even though, these days, it is only their performances that could be called well-rounded.

Reunited for new film Revolutionary Road, Kate, 33, and Leo, 34, turned up at the premiere in LA yesterday looking more svelte and suave than ever.

It was a far cry from when the two fresh-faced Titanic stars first gambolled down the red carpet in 1998.

Back then, a chubby-cheeked Leonardo looked gawky in his dinner suit and curvy Kate turned up in an unflattering lace gown. But thanks to gym sessions, a tan, highlights, and advice from stylists over the years, the pair now look better than ever.

Kate has been at the centre of an airbrushing controversy after a glossy mag admitted it "touched up" photos of her. But as yesterday's glowing snap shows, she really doesn't need it.

The movie, directed by Kate's husband Sam Mendes, has got four Oscar nominations - Best Actress for Kate, Best Actor for Leo, Best Director for Mendes and Best Picture.

Weight to go!

Madonna exclusive: Madge accused of varying divorce pay out amounts by £21million

Madonna was accused last night of juggling numbers over her divorce pay-out to Guy Ritchie.

The singer - stung by reports that he was walking away without a penny - released two sets of conflicting figures... one up to £21million higher than the other.

First her people put out a statement on Monday that Madonna, 50, was giving British film director Guy £50-60million.

But in a separate email to BBC News, they confirmed Ritchie, 40, would get a lump sum of between £60-70million - or £39-£46million.

The £21million discrepancy between the highest and lowest figures is around one and a half times the value of Ashcombe House, the couple's Wiltshire estate.

A source close to Ritchie said: "Madonna seems to be trying to paint Guy as the bad cop, but it's not working.

If her people can't even decide on a single figure, then he's hardly a money-grabbing chancer. He's determined to keep a dignified silence, but she is making it difficult."

Guy has been given their country estate, a £4million townhouse, their pub, and £3million of property in New York.

No Charges In Alleged Thefts From Beckham House

LONDON (AP) — Police say no charges will be filed after they investigated allegations of theft from David and Victoria Beckham's British mansion.

Three people, two of whom had worked for the celebrity couple as housekeepers, were arrested in October. British media reported that the arrests came after some of the couple's possessions — soccer memorabilia and dresses — were spotted on an Internet auction site.

Hertfordshire Police said Wednesday that after consulting with prosecutors, no charges will be filed in the alleged theft from the mansion in Sawbridgeworth, northwest of London. They said the "injured party" was aware of the status of the case, but provided no further details.

A spokesman for the Beckhams did not immediately return a call to The Associated Press.

PETA Names Leona Lewis 'Person Of The Year'

Vegetarian pop sensation Leona Lewis has been named Person of the Year by animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

The Bleeding Love singer, who gave up meat when she was 12 years old, is an avid anti-animal cruelty campaigner and refuses to wear fur or leather. And her strict beliefs have not gone unnoticed with PETA - bosses of the organization have made the star their top celebrity of 2008, taking over from fashion designer Stella McCartney.

PETA Europe Director Robbie LeBlanc says, "Leona Lewis is admired for her beautiful voice, but it's her kindness to animals that makes her a superstar in our book."

Earlier this year the singer turned down $1.5 million from luxury London retailer Harrods to open its summer sale because it remains as the only U.K. department store to still stock fur.

Lindsay Lohan Fan Arrested At Arizona Nightclub

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) — Scottsdale police say they arrested a Phoenix man early Wednesday after he allegedly pushed a nightclub security guard while trying to get close to actress Lindsay Lohan.

Police say Lohan and gal-pal Samantha Ronson were trying to leave the Jackrabbit Lounge nightclub and security guards were trying to hold back the crowd. The bouncers told police that's when the 38-year-old fan tried to get around them, pushed one of the guards and became disruptive.

Police say in a news release that the man was detained and then turned over to officers. He was booked on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge and later released.

Officers say they contacted Lohan and Ronson at a nearby hotel and they said they didn't know the man.

Taxi Confession

Truth, Justice And Gordon Shumway: (weekly column) - It's probably not the easiest thing to be Jimmy Fallon these days; the amount of backlash he endures is typically reserved for those the Iraqi media throw their shoes at. The web episodes leading up to the March premiere of his new show have been inconsistent, at best. To make matters worse, Jay Leno has just agreed to stay at NBC, hosting a new show at 10:00 PM on weeknights; effectively making Fallon the third hour of late night comedy (he will have to get behind Conan O'Brien for his spot under the bus where NBC threw them). To say the least, the odds are stacked against him. But, I have a confession to make: I kind of like Jimmy Fallon.

Before we get into my lukewarm, public-defender-quality defense, let's look at his most common criticisms. It has been said that he is (A) not funny, (B) makes some pretty terrible movies and (C) has a tendency to laugh at his own jokes.

First of all, he can be funny. I know it's popular right now to jump on the anti-Fallon bandwagon, but people forget just how good he could be on Saturday Night Live. Of course, the very nature of that format leaves one open to criticism when a sketch bombs, but, his critics seem to conveniently forget The Bloder Brothers; his Boston character "Sully"; Nick Burns, the Company Computer Guy; Barry Gibb and, of course, Carson Daly -- whose show will follow Fallon's; a man Fallon mocked by exclaiming he was "a massive tool."

Admittedly, Fallon's movie career leaves something to, err, well ...yeah ... it's not very good. On the bright side, he was in one of my favorite movies of all time, Almost Famous; he quickly followed this up with a blink-and-you-miss-him role in the outstanding HBO mini-series Band of Brothers. It almost seemed Fallon was carving himself out a nice little niche in small, but acclaimed, projects.

Nope.

His first post-SNL film, Taxi, was a pretty terrible career move. Though, at least it provides this fairly humorous exchange between Fallon and his new announcer, Steve Higgins.

Though, I realize I am in the minority, but I thought Fallon was quite charming in Fever Pitch. (Full disclosure: this might stem from the fact that Fallon and Drew Barrymore were allowed to film a scene on the field at Busch Stadium, in St. Louis, as the Red Sox were celebrating the 2004 World Series. As a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan, anytime a Red Sox fan brings up that game, all I have to do is bring up that scene and said Red Sox fan stops talking. Not an easy accomplishment.)

There is no getting around this, Fallon does laugh too often while in character and at his own jokes -- usually along with fellow cast member Horatio Sans. He will need to break this habit when conducting an interview and, unfortunately, he is still doing it as we see in this mock interview with Fred Armisen.

Though, as far as past critizism in regard to this behavior, was it really all that bad?
Fallon was in the "Cowbell" sketch -- one of the most popular SNL skits of all time, featuring Will Ferrell as the cowbell player from 70's rock group Blue Oyster Cult -- and yes, Fallon did laugh in that skit. But, so did almost everyone else participating and this is what helps make it a classic. Same with the original "Debbie Downer" sketch, the only reason people still discuss that skit today is because the cast, including Fallon, had the giggles. Both times, his laughing helped catch lightning in a bottle, twice. When Tim Conway would try to get Harvey Korman to laugh on The Carol Burnett show, it was considered a comedy classic. When Fallon laughs, even though the skits are legendary, he receives scorn.

The odds are stacked against him, the stakes partially raised by his own network. He will be competing for viewers after two full hours of comedy have already already aired; he will be competing with David Letterman for guests in New York City. Most importantly, he will be competing against his own skewered stigma. I, for one, will be rooting for him ... if for no other reason than to prevent Taxi 2.

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Nuptials Questioned

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag don't appear to be any closer to getting legally hitched.

A brief tease for the fourth season finale of MTV's "The Hills" that aired Monday seemed to indicate that the reality TV couple have made their unofficial Mexican wedding ceremony a legitimate marriage in California. The pair were shown walking into a courtroom with Pratt's sister, Stephanie Pratt, while a judge smiled down on them from the bench.

"I, Heidi, take thee, Spencer," Montag coos in the preview.

Despite all the official trappings, the tease of legitimate nuptials for the pair may be just that. A Los Angeles Superior Court official said Tuesday that MTV was recently granted permission to shoot in a courtroom in Beverly Hills, but it was done after hours — and that's not one of their judges sitting on the bench in "The Hills" footage.

MTV was granted permission to film "what purported to be a wedding outside of court hours" at the Beverly Hills courthouse, court spokesman Allan Parachini said Tuesday. He did not know who the participants were in the wedding, but Parachini said court officials wanted the filming to be treated as a news event.

The preview for next week's season finale features a wood-paneled courtroom with the California state seal perched on the wall behind a judge. Civil ceremonies are sometimes performed at the Beverly Hills courthouse, but not in the manner portrayed in the brief preview. If a judge does preside, it is typically in chambers during a break, Parachini said.

Pratt, 25, and Montag, 22, acknowledged that their Nov. 19 marriage ceremony near Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, was entirely symbolic, despite appearing on the Nov. 26 cover of Us Weekly with the headline "Heidi & Spencer Elope!" Monday's episode of "The Hills" depicted the pair spontaneously agreeing to exchange vows after downing several shots of tequila.

"In my mind, it's as legal as the ring on my finger," Pratt told Us Weekly.

A check of marriage records last week did not reveal any filings by Pratt or Montag in Los Angeles County, although the couple could get married in any county in California as well as opt for a confidential license. Officials at two courthouses in neighboring Orange County said they have not received requests from MTV to film in their facilities.

The couple and MTV did not immediately return messages seeking comment Tuesday.

Brad & Angelina Planning More Children

Brad Pitt and partner Angelina Jolie want to have as many children as possible - because the six children they have already bring them so much joy.

The Hollywood couple are parents to adopted Maddox, seven, Pax, four and Zahara, three, as well as biological offspring Shiloh, two, and baby twins Knox and Vivienne. The house the pair share is crazy, according to Pitt - but he wouldn't change the make-up of his family for anything.

He tells Hello! Magazine, "It's chaos at times but there's also such joy in our house right now. I look down at the family and I see our boy from Vietnam (Pax) and our daughter from Ethiopia (Zahara) and our girl's from Namibia (Shiloh was born there) and our son who's from Cambodia (Maddox), and… they are all brothers and sisters, man. They are all the same blood."

Pitt and Jolie love watching their large brood play with each other, and are ecstatic they've been able to give them a good quality of life.

The actor adds, "It is such elation to see them all living together, and getting along together, and to know that we were able to give them a home - in some cases, to give them a life. It's a wonderful thing that we are able to do this because of the jobs we have - and it's a selfish thing, too, because the rewards are extraordinary."

And Pitt reveals that he and Jolie plan on extending their family even further: "We've always said that we'll carry on until we find a reason to stop doing this - and, no, we haven't found that reason yet."

She tells Access Hollywood, "Hottest ticket party in town… I thought I had some pull - I usually do, and I've been shut down. It's the hardest party to get into." But the beauty has vowed not to give up in her quest to get a ticket to the historical event.

She adds, "We are still working on it, but I understand the whole thing. They don't want to make (it) a celebrity studded event because I understand this in an extremely crucial time in our history and in our world right now. Demi Lovato: 'I've Never Kissed A Jonas Brother'

Disney star Demi Lovato has dismissed reports she's following in the footsteps of fellow teen stars Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez by dating one of the Jonas Brothers because the clean cut singers are "not the type of guys" she'd be attracted to.

The 16-year-old singer opened for the act on their Burning Up tour - which prompted the start of rumors she was being romanced by one of the three brothers behind the scenes.

She tells Seventeen magazine, "I've never kissed a Jonas brother, period. That would be kind of weird. Even in Camp Rock, Joe and I never kissed. We're all friends. But they're not the type of guys that I'd be into dating - or else I'd be dating one!

"They've become like brothers to me. I even put on my glasses and wear sweatpants around them because you wouldn't put makeup on for just your brothers."

Hilary Duff: 'I Did Not Say I Was A Virgin'

Pop star/actress Hilary Duff has hit back at reports she told journalists she was still a virgin at the age of 19 - insisting she was misquoted.

In a 2006 interview with Elle magazine, the former Disney star touted her squeaky-clean image, insisting she hadn't yet had sex.

However she now denies every making the claim, telling Maxim magazine: "You know what? I was quoted saying I was a virgin, but I absolutely did not say that. That's nobody's business but my own. Somehow it turned into a bad thing!"

Duff has shrugged off the misquote, because she's heard so many lies about herself after years in the limelight.

She adds, "I've been accused by the press of giving lap dances at clubs. I mean, little ol' me? It's shocking. People love to believe it - its way more exciting to talk about than the truth! And they're so descriptive about these lap dances. I don't even know how to do a lap dance!"

Headbands.

Headbands are back in fashion and everyone is currently stalking them.

These are great to use on a bad hair day (because hats are soooo not appropriate in the office!) and are a cute accessory.

There are some great headbands that you can use whether or not you have a bad hair day! Here are some tips:

1. A little spray is good!

Hair spray is great to use especially on those thinner bands. Even if they have some type of grip underneath you should lightly spray around the headband for a good all day hold.

2. Keep it simple!

If you are wearing an amazing outfit with lots of detail keep the headband simple. You don’t want the headband to fight with your outfit for attention.

3. Play with it!

There are lots of different types of headbands to suit every mood, outfit and style. You can experiment with colors and textures to find a good look for you!

4. Bang it out!

With bangs being all the rage right now you can still work your bands with a headband. Just seperate your bangs from the rest of your hair and put the headband a bit farther back. Then style your bangs as usual.

5. Pony it up!

A headband with the scarf to tie around the back (like this one) looks great with a ponytail or messy bun. You can use a regular headband as well but the scarve gives it a little more.

Have fun with your new collection of headbands! But don’t wear them all at once! :) Stay beautiful!

Biggest Loser Season 7 Winner Michelle Aguilar

The winner of The Biggest Loser cashed out last night. (NBC Images)

After twelve weeks of extreme diet and exercise, Michelle Aguilar from Fort Worth, Texas, was named the winner of The Biggest Loser last night, earning a cool $250,000 for dropping 110 lbs - almost half her original weight.

"I feel like this world is now my oyster and I'm just going to go after it!" Michelle said after she won.

Michelle, who entered the competition with her once-estranged mom, was training under the tough Jillian Michaels, earning the win over North Carolina's Ed Brantley and Louisiana's Vicky Vilcan.

"Dieting and exercising is difficult," Michelle said. "But you have to make it part of your lifestyle. You don't have to love it, but you do have to make time for it."

Michelle is 'Biggest Loser'

Michelle Aguilar, the 26 year old from Dallas, was named "the Biggest Loser" in the sixth season finale Tuesday.

She lost 110 pounds in the competition, dropping from a starting weight of 242 to a current 132 as part of Jillian Michaels' team. The percentage weight loss was 45.45 percent and she took home the title and the $250,000 final prize.

Ed Brantley, 31, a chef from Raleigh, lost even more pounds, 139, but the 41.49 percent weight loss was less than the winner (or loser) when he went from a starting 335 to 196. He had been part of Bob Harper's team of husbands and wives, with his wife Heba Salama, 30, who was also among the final four but was eliminated by viewer vote during the finale in a rather lopsided margin -- an 84 percent majority chose Brantley. But Salama did win the $100,000 prize for the biggest loser of those eliminated.

Also part of Harper's team was Vicky Vilcan, 37, the mother from Houma, La., who said she felt guilty that her weight had helped make her daughter overweight as well. Her weight loss, losing 101 pounds from a starting 246 to 145, was good enough for a third place finish.

"The Biggest Loser" finale came as part of a big two hour finale, which really was not so big -- every episode of the show this season was two hours long, something of a record. There won't be much time without the show. It returns with a new group of overweight contestants Jan. 6.

'Biggest Loser': Victory for Michelle, death threats for Vicky

Good triumphed over....Vicky. And Heba.

Michelle won $250,000 and the title of "The Biggest Loser" tonight, overcoming a childhood traumatized by divorce and, perhaps more importantly, beating out two fellow competitors who were seen as two of the most conniving and unappealing contestants in the show's history.

"I earned it," said Michelle, who joined the show as a duo alongside her mother, Renee, and immediately became a fan favorite both because of her doggedness in the gym and her kind, forgiving demeanor. Michelle had been estranged from her mother for years after her parents' divorce. America had a front-row seat as the two repaired their relationship and lost a combined 216 pounds.

Michelle alone lost 110 pounds, or an astonishing 45.45% of her body weight, to win the game and become only the second woman to win "The Biggest Loser" title.

For fans of the show, though, Michelle's victory was all the more sweet because it came at the expense of Vicky and Heba....

Heba, you may recall, came into the house as a bit of a bully -- make that a big loud bully -- who immediately began throwing her weight around to get her way. (Blame it on her husband, Ed, who apparently spends his life trying to do everything he can to make/keep her happy.)

She created divides and alliances in the house, and was the first to turn the tables on a competitor -- and then spent the rest of her time at the Biggest Loser ranch complaining bitterly and loudly at any smack of game playing that didn't suit her purposes.

Well, Heba finally got hers. Kinda.

In an odd twist of fate, Heba and Ed ended up competing for the third spot in the finals. The decision was left up to the public to vote between the two. Ed, being the dutiful husband, begged America to let his wife win. Heba also begged America to let her win.

America gave her the backhand: In a "landslide" vote, 84% of the votes cast were against Heba.

Heba didn't go home empty-handed, however. She was eligible for and won the $100,000 runners-up prize for losing 138 pounds, or 46.94% of her body weight.

In other words, if she had curried a little more favor with the public, she would have landed the third-place spot -- and she would have won.

Afterward, asked why America voted against her, she said "I guess there are just a lot of negative people out there who don't like to see success." (Heba, who said she wanted to join the show to lose weight so she could have a healthy pregnancy, said family planning is on hold for now: "I want to spend a summer where I can wear a bathing suit and not feel bad about myself. Call me when that's over.")

Vicky, meanwhile -- who was dubbed by trainer Bob Harper to be "Shakespearean" in her efforts to manipulate her teammates -- missed winning the $250,000 prize by 1 pound.

See? There is justice after all.

In an interview after the show, Vicky said she was unfairly depicted on the show. While she said the producers could have portrayed her positively as a mother struggling to balance work and family and improve the health of her two children, they chose to portray her as a schemer.

To hear her tell it, it was all camerawork.

She has been so widely reviled that she had to change her phone number because she was receiving death threats, and to this day continues to receive letters telling her what a horrible person she is.

"Most people hate my guts," Vicky said, later adding that perhaps so many people disliked her because she was a determined competitor who knew what she wanted and wasn't about to let anyone stand in her way. "Women need to be strong and they need to use their heads."

She also added: "I feel bad for the people who are writing those letters. They don't know me."

On a completely unrelated note:

It's impossible to say whether Vicky was misportrayed or not (although the fact that Mr. Nice Guy Bob Harper called her out for being manipulative suggests that she doth protesteth too much.)

But I can report firsthand that TV does not become Vicky.

She often looked haggard during the game, even after her makeover. In person, though, she is a head-turner, with clear, smooth skin, bright teeth and stunning green eyes.

Madonna And Guy Ritchie Reach $76 Million Settlement

Madonna may be noticing that her purse is hanging a little lighter these days, as she’ll reportedly pay her soon-to-be-ex-husband Guy Ritchie at least $76 million in their divorce settlement.

Liz Rosenberg, Madge’s rep, told press that her client has given up anywhere between $76 million and $92 million, depending on the value of the couple’s country home in Ashcombe.

The good news for the Material Girl is that she still gets to keep the lion’s share of her $500+ million-dollar fortune, though the settlement is still enormous.  Rosenberg speculated, “I’d assume it’s one of the largest payouts ever in a divorce settlement.”

Earlier this year, Madonna commented on the divorce, telling press, “I’m sad about my personal life, but I feel very blessed and very lucky that I have the opportunity to do what I do in my professional life.”

She asked Tom over to New York for Christmas and he agreed. Both their families are also coming over.”

Megan Fox: Spike TV Video Game Vixen

She’s one of the most desirable ladies in Hollywood, and last night Megan Fox showed up at SpikeTV’s 2008 Video Game Awards to heat things up a bit.

The “Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen” babe provided plenty of eye candy as she arrived at Sony Pictures Studios in a strapless red dress teamed with a pair of shiny black heels.

Once inside, Megan did more than just saunter around and look sexy- she presented Rockstar Games with the Best Game of the Year Award for their “Grand Theft Auto IV” title.

The 6th Annual SpikeTV Video Game Awards was quite the shindig, with “Kung Fu Panda” funnyman Jack Black taking care of the hosting duties.

SPOILER: Find Out the Winner of Survivor: Gabon

After 39 days, five consecutive challenge wins, two fake immunity idols, and one fire-building tiebreaker, see who emerged the ultimate Survivor…

Bob Crowley, the 57-year-old physics teacher from Portland, Maine, was crowned winner of Survivor: Gabon.

“I am [overwhelmed]. This is really going to bother Randy that I can’t think of a long story,” Crowley, who is the oldest winner in the history of the game, said when Jeff Probst inquired about his strategy at the live reunion show held in Los Angeles. “I just tried to play the game. My plan was to fly under the radar as long as I could, be necessary and be a nice guy so that people liked me.”

He also acknowledged that his penchant for making realistic faux immunity idols didn’t hurt his chances either.  His four votes beat the three votes received by hairdresser Susie Smith, 47. Jessica “Sugar” Kiper, a 29-year-old pin-up model, was given zero votes.  The deciding vote was cast by Randy Bailey, who made his pro-Bob decision based on the infamous chocolate chip cookie clash he had with Susie.

Crowley had previously stated in the final tribal council that competing on Survivor was “one of the most exciting adventures of my life” and he admitted to adapting some of the challenges for use in his classroom and on tests. Unfortunately for his students, his triumph was not grounds for canceling Monday’s quiz. “I’ve gotten three text messages: ‘If you do well Mr. Crowley, do we have to take the test tomorrow?’ They do.”  –Carrie Bell

Abbie Cornish Brings Ryan Phillippe To Sydney

Australia native Abbie Cornish was all smiles while she and boyfriend Ryan Phillippe walked hand-in-hand in Sydney after arriving in the country via the airport in town. The two have kept their relationship pretty low-key, which is understandable since it was rumored their romance finalized the rift between Ryan and his ex-wife Reese Witherspoon.

However, since going public, the two have been getting pretty serious, with Abbie spending Thanksgiving with Ryan and his two kids Ava and Deacon Phillippe. Granted, I'm pretty sure Thanksgiving means absolutely nothing to Australians, but still she was spending some serious quality time with the kids.

And I'm guessing that these two are planning to meet up with Abbie's family. No wonder Abbie's looking all happy-go-lucky and Ryan's like, "Um yeah, sweetie. This will be great."

Chris Weitz Confirmed To Direct Twilight Sequel New Moon

Chris Weitz, the director of The Golden Compass and About a Boy, has been confirmed as the director of the Twilight sequel New Moon. Weitz posted a letter to Twilight fans to help calm their nerves about the loss of Catherine Hardwicke as the director:

Dear fans of Twilight, New Moon, Bella, Edward and Jacob,

In the past few days I have been involved in a whirlwind romance with Stephenie Meyers' extraordinary books.

And I am very grateful to have received her permission to protect New Moon in its translation from the page to the screen.

For fans of the books and of the film of Twilight, this may come as an unexpected twist. So I want to write briefly to try to put you at ease, and to give you reason to hope for and expect the best.

For the last decade of my career as a director, I have chosen to make adaptations of complex and involved works of literature. This has always begun with the love of a book and its characters, story, and theme; and it has always involved a respect of and responsiveness to the feelings of other people who loved those books.

When I saw the film of Twilight, I was alternately entranced and left hungry for more. I was also struck by the extraordinary passion for the characters, story and theme that was evident in the people sitting in the seats around me. My job is to live up to that devotion.

Like many of you, I am a fan of Catherine Hardwicke's work. I can't really say much about why she is not doing New Moon because I wasn't involved in those decisions. But I can say that I will devote myself to making the very best and most faithful version of New Moon that can be brought to the screen. To those who doubt that as a male director I can capture Bella's experience, I can only say that emotion is universal and that my work has often involved working with some of the most talented actresses in the world.

For the rest, the proof will have to be in the pudding. But I promise to remain responsive to your hopes and fears.

I thank you for this opportunity and for your faith.

Very best,

Chris Weitz
The writer of the Twilight novels, Stephanie Meyer, also posted a message to reassure fans:

December 13, 2008
Hey guys,

There's been a lot of worry and speculation on the boards lately, and I want to let you know what's going on.

First of all, like you, I'm sad that Catherine is not continuing on with us for New Moon. I'm going to miss her, not just as a brilliant director, but also as a friend. She has such a distinct, authentic voice that did amazing things for Twilight. I'm looking forward to every movie she does in the future.

And she didn't leave us empty handed. We still get the benefits of her amazing casting and the beautiful visual world she created. This foundation puts us in a good place for New Moon.

Summit Films is moving forward with a new director for New Moon. They've asked Chris Weitz, director of American Pie, About a Boy, and The Golden Compass, to join us, and I am very pleased to announce that he's agreed to be a part of our Twilight world. I've had the chance to talk to Chris, and I can tell you that he is excited by the story and eager to keep the movie as close to the book as possible. He is also very aware of you, the fans, and wants to keep you all extremely happy. (Torches and pitchforks are not going to be necessary.)

I'm excited to work with Chris and I think he brings a lot to the table, not the least of which for me is that he wrote the screenplay for and directed one of my favorite movies of all time, About a Boy. I'm really looking forward to seeing his vision for New Moon.

Palin's Church Up In Flames, Literally

This was just unnecessary - and wrong.

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's church was damaged badly by arson this past weekend.

Estimates are that the Wasilla Bible Church has $1 million in damages.

According to the Central Mat-Su fire chief, James Steele, the fire was set Friday night while a handful of people, including two children, were inside. Thankfully, no one was injured due to the fire.

Steele said the fire is being investigated as an arson attack and did not know of any recent threats to the church.

Palin apologized on Saturday through a statement saying she was sorry if the fire was connected to any "undeserved negative attention" from her campaign as the Republican potential VP.

Does she always think it's about her?

Authorities added that they did not see an immediate and clear connection to whether Palin's association to the church was relevant to the arson.

Steele said, "It's hard to say at this point. Everything is just speculation."

The church's pastor declined to comment if they had received any recent threats.

But the same church was under major scrutiny after Palin was nomiated as John McCain's running mate. It seems the church was promoting a "Love Won Out" conference that promised to "help men and women dissatisfied with living homosexually understand that same-sex attractions can be overcome."

That's cause right there for some crazies to burn down the place.

Palin's spokesman Bill McAllister said "Whatever the motives of the arsonist, the governor has faith in the scriptural passage that what was intended for evil will in some way be used for good."

Heath Snubbed

Earlier this year, the former Western Australia Premier, Alan Carpenter, announced that a new drama venue would be built and named in tribute to the late Aussie actor, Heath Ledger.

Carpenter was even joined back then by Heath's dad at the construction ceremony of the $87 million center and Kim Ledger told reporters his son would have been proud to have "his name" on it.

However, that's no longer the case.

The new Premier, Colin Barnet, probably not a Ledger fan, has just announced that the naming has been overturned in favor of a more "diverse title."

Barnett confirmed the venue will now be called the State Theatre Centre of Western Australia.

He did state that inside the new centre, the 575-seat theatre would still be named after Heath.

Australia's Culture and Arts Minister John Day added that "A great deal of consideration has been given to the name of the venue and this has involved consultation with the Ledger family, which is pleased Heath is being acknowledged in this way, and a range of stakeholders. The name, State Theatre Centre, strongly identifies the venue as a place of civic pride for all Western Australians and will be a venue where audiences can enjoy high-quality performing arts by local, national and international artists."

What do U think?

Just like politicians, say one thing and do another!

American Idol Making Some More Changes

Attempting to reverse its ratings decline, American Idol is making a few minor adjustments this coming season.

Though the changes will be officially announced later today or this week, they've already been leaked via an AI fansite which somehow got a hold of a production memo.

Without changing too much of the show's format - which initially earned it top ratings - AI will be making a minor shift toward "real talent."

- There will be fewer audition rounds (and thusly, less of Simon's sarcasm) and more Hollywood episodes, to shift the emphasize on "aspirational" singers, rather than attention-hungry whores or those inflicted with "I think I can sing" syndrome.

- The semifinalist round will be expanded to 36 contestants instead of the usual 24.

- Return of the second chance "wild card" round.

- Idol Gives Back has been canceled for next year, but will return in the 9th season as an every-other-year event.

We'll have to wait and see if the tweaking helps or hinders AI!

Enrique Iglesias puckers up with Anna Kournikova lookalike

ENRIQUE IGLESIAS puckers up with an ANNA KOURNIKOVA lookalike on stage in London.

The Spanish heartthrob - who has been fighting reports he has split up from the real deal after moving out of the tennis beauty's home in Miami last month - invited thrilled fan Maria Carroll up on stage after spotting her in the audience at Capital FM's Jingle Bell Ball.

Serenading female fans during a rendition of Hero has become something of a trademark for Enrique.

However I'm sure Anna will not be to thrilled to see her boyfriend of seven years following his actions up with a snog and a feel of her bum.

Enrique recently told a magazine a row with Anna about his dogs forced him to look for a new pad.

He said: "She kicked me out.

"We had a fight. We did make up, but she didn’t let me move back in. It was a stupid fight – something about my dogs.

Chest to far? ... Enrique gets close

"I'll move back when she lets me."

However on this form, I don't reckon Enrique should hold his breath.

Scarlett Johansson poses for cosmopolitan in a bust enhancing black dress

SCARLETT JOHANSSON shows why she's one of the world's hottest women with a stunning photoshoot for Cosmopolitan.

The US actress, who made an appearance at the Nobel Comittee Banquet in Oslo this week, pulls a sultry pose in a bust-enhancing black dress for the sexy shoot.

Scarlett has been doing the rounds recently to promote her new movie The Spirit, which is released on New Year's Day.

The film is an adaptation of the comic series of the same name.

Scarlett plays the aptly-named Silken Floss, a "very sexy woman" who's the accomplice to the film's baddie, the evil Octopus, played by SAMUEL L JACKSON.

She recently revealed that her co-star is actually a lot more vain than fans might expect.

She said: "Sam was always using my eyeliner pencils.

"He always had a lot of make-up on. He would spend hours longer in the make-up room than me."

Kristen Bell Will Give You a Complex

There's a lot to like about Kristen Bell.

She narrates one of the best shows on TV as Gossip Girl
She's one of the scant few bright spots on the erratic, wildly uneven, shark-jumping sci-fi fiasco we know as Heroes
She was delightfully bitchy as the title character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall
These outtakes from her photo shoot for Complex magazine

While the last series of Complex pics we posted were a bit more, um, XXX-rated (that's Aubrey O'Day for you), Kristen sizzles in relatively conservative glory.

Seeing Stars: Sean Avery Booted From Team

In the NHL, you get five-minutes in the penalty box for fighting, two for high-sticking, and thrown off your team for lewd comments about Elisha Cuthbert.

What a great league.

Just 23 games into his four-year, $15.5 million contract, the Dallas Stars say they cannot move forward with loudmouth winger Sean Avery. He will no longer play for the Stars once his six-game suspension by the NHL is completed.

Avery was suspended after he referred to Elisha Cuthbert as his sloppy seconds at an impromptu press conference last month. The actress is now dating Dion Phaneuf of the Calgary Flames, who were set to face off with Dallas that evening.

SORRY, DION PHANEUF: Thanks to Sean Avery's now-infamous comments, when it comes to Elisha Cuthbert, there's no doubt who got there first.

The team will look to help him move on (whatever that means) with his career and his life, co-general manager Brett Hull said. The fact they are willing to risk that loss illustrates just how much of a jackass Avery is viewed as.

In other news, NHL games continue to air on Vs. That's a TV network.

DJ Tanner is FINALLY Ready for Kathy Santone's Pool Party!

I'm not sure what's going on, but I'm pretty sure that all the work that I've been putting into practicing all the rules of the book "The Secret" are finally paying off because all things "Full House" are starting to manifest its way back into my life. Praise "The Secret!"

Candace Cameron (aka Donna Jo Tanner) is on the cover of the latest Us Weekly talking about losing weight and being a hot mom of 3 (Nicky, Alex, and Michelle?).

Candace talks about her new weight of 110 pounds and the pressure she put on herself to lose weight during her days on the set of Full House. You'll have to actually buy the issue of Us Weekly to get an inside look on the diet that DJ Tanner follows, but I can give you a heads up on what she's eating.....
If you all remember correctly, when DJ Tanner wasn't eating for 3 days so she could fit into a bikini for Kathy Santone's pool party and Stephanie Tanner ratted her out to Danny, Jesse, Joey, and Becky, the shit really hit the fan. Uncle Jesse, naturally, told her to "sit down and eat a sandwich right now" but Aunt Becky held a little one-on-one talk with DJ. It was here where we learn of what DJ can eat, according to Aunt Becky. This diet consists of: Chicken and fish with veggies. So, I'm pretty sure this is how Candace Cameron lost the 22 pounds. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Marisa Miller was all hot smiles and wonderfully skanky poses at Spike TV's 2008 Video Game Awards over the weekend. Why do I feel like the kind of guy that Marissa Miller is into does not, in fact, play video games. I bet she likes a guy who blogs. Yeah, blogs. Totally.

Celebrities are Just Like Us! They Can Smoke in the Airport!

The 2 visions of pure beauty, Lindsay No Pants and Samantha Rotten are back from their tour of the cultural country called Miami. Linds and Sam were in Miami because Sam had to DJ (not Tanner) an event, but just 16 hours later they were heading back to Los Angeles. What a treat. Sam, of course, was dressed in her traditional Freddie Kruger sweater, which you know must have ring-around-the-collar by now. And Lindsay sported the same black leggings that must smell like a cat who's recently been run over by a 16-seat yellow school bus and left for dead on the side of the road during a summer rain storm.

Kanye West Sings on Saturday Night Live the Same Exact Way I Would Sing on Saturday Night Live

Yow and yowza! So who got the privilege of seeing Kanye West ruin music on Saturday Night Live over the weekend? I did! I did! This is basically how I would sound if I were to sing in public, which now assures me that I clearly have what it takes to break into the music industry and take Motown by storm!

Kayne, of course, is getting a lot of crap for how horrific he performed, but if we all stop and think about it, even listening to "Love Lockdown" on the radio doesn't really sound that great either. It was a little pitchy, dog. But don't get me wrong, while Kanye appears to be an ass, I'm actually a huge fan of his music and, particularly, Love Lockdown. I actually just downloaded "All Falls Down" on iTunes, so even butchering music can still make Kanye money.

Morrissey's naked Eva offer

Eva Mendes wants to appear in a PETA advert naked with Morrissey.

The stunning Latino actress wants to team up with the outspoken vegetarian singer to raise awareness of animal rights and is prepared to bare all in front of Morrissey.

Eva - who has stripped off for PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) before - said: "I really want to do a PETA ad with Morrissey, I'd be happy to do it naked if need be. I've done a lot of work with them and I know Morrissey is a big supporter of PETA, so here's hoping!"

'The Spirit' star - who is a huge fan of Morrissey's former band The Smiths - is hoping the 'Meat Is Murder' singer will return the favour and go nude as well.

She added: "Whether Morrissey would want to get naked with me is another question. Maybe he could come up with something more creative than out-and-out nudity."

Eva, 34, admits she has had a crush on Morrissey, who has often stated he is celibate, since she first discovered The Smiths' music.

The actress - who is dating producer George Gargurevich - revealed: "When he sings it's poetry in motion to me. It completely speaks to me. I love Morrissey, but I don't think I'd want to marry him."

Tom Cruise's Santa failure

Tom Cruise's two-year-old daughter is unimpressed by his acting skills.

The 46-year-old star dresses up as Santa Claus every year for his children - adopted daughter Isabella, 15, and son Connor, 13, with ex-wife Nicole Kidman and daughter Suri, two, with wife Katie Holmes - and admits he was shocked when Suri saw through his act last year.

Talking about how his family celebrates the festive season, he said: "I'm always Santa. The teenagers know it's me, but I was surprised at Suri last year. Kate made the Santa outfit and when I came out, I did my best Santa impression. She looked at me and said, 'No, Dada.' This year, I'm going to do a little better. I'm working on it."

Tom can soon be seen in new film 'Valkyrie', in which he plays a German colonel who plots to kill Hitler and bring down the Nazi regime, and has revealed he drew on childhood experiences when playing the part.

He said at a press conference: "I grew up playing with the neighbourhood kids in the yard wanting to kill Nazis, wanting to kill Hitler. As a child you'd think, 'Why didn't someone just shoot him?' This is an important story, because I didn't know it. It's important to know, of course, that it's not everyone, it's not everybody who felt that way and fell into that Nazi ideology. That, to me, was surprising."
