Gwyneth Paltrow thinks yoga will fix New York City public schools

Gwyneth Paltrow is hell bent on getting you to drink her Kool-Aid. First came “Goop,” the content of which she allegedly stole from another person; next came the chain of health clubs
that no one in the recession-plagued United States can afford to join; and now the Oscar-winning mom wants to bring yoga to the schools! I mean, seriously! Is there no end to her crusade of wellness? OK, maybe yoga in the schools is a good thing but I still think Paltrow is the reigning Ego Queen of New York right now.

“I started practicing yoga 20 years ago with Eddie Stern and it changed my life, so when he asked me to come … I felt I owe him so much,” Gwyneth tells “The Insider.”

The actress joined forces with Alice + Olivia and Urban Zen Foundation to host a gala thrown by Bent on Learning, a non-profit organization that offers instruction in yoga and meditation to students in New York City public schools and youth centers.

“I think New York City public schools need some TLC, and, I think, yoga is a nice way to get centered. It is a great idea,” Gwyneth adds.

Pardon my rant for a moment but this really burns me up. Not because it isn’t a great idea but because I actually went to public school in New York City and if I recall correctly, Gwynnie went to Spence. The NYC public school system might benefit from a few breaths in Downward Dog, but it’d probably do just as well with new text books and more qualified teachers.

Lindsay Lohan’s Nylon pictures are too horrible for words

You know the ol’ chestnut about a picture being worth a thousand words? Well, the photos of Lindsay Lohan looking scary-skinny in Nylon magazine pretty much make my job completely obsolete, at least for this post. And I’m thinking, based on the following comment from Linds, that this was the desired result.

There’s not much I can do about the fact that I’ve become a kind of tabloid obsession. I can’t change that. And yes, the websites, the gossip pages, and all of that stuff have hurt my career – they’re like the Burn Books of Hollywood… but I really don’t feel like I should have to prove myself to anyone because of living out my college years in the public eye. I’m glad everything happened the way it did.

So that’s that. I’ve hurt Lindsay Lohan’s career and as revenge, she’s rendered me sorta worldess. What could I possibly write that would be equally as horrifying as the image above? Perhaps you have some suggestions.

We're VERY excited about the Dancing On Ice final!

This year's Dancing On Ice has been pretty darn fantastic. In fact, if we weren't so excited about the final, we might even be feeling a little sad. There's been bruises, spectacular falls, Jason's cutting comments, Todd Carty(!), Lycra, sequins, Holly's cute and ever-growing baby bump, Ray Quinn's shockingly hot bod AND Phillip Schofield's been helpfully tweeting about it all on his Twitter page. Amazing. This Sunday, either Ray Quinn, Jessica Taylor or Donal McIntyre will be crowned the Ice King or Queen – and we can't wait to see how far they'll all go in their bid to impress the judges and us lot watching at home. We know there's going to be high wires involved, so it's definitely going to be eventful. All three finalists have been tasked with performing Torvill and Dean's famous Bolero routine – but will they be awarded 6.0 across the board as their mentors were before them? There's only one way to find out. Make sure you tune in from 6.55pm this Sunday on ITV1, then come back here and tell us what you thought about the show. Oh, and to keep you entertained until then, we've found an extremely funny spoof Harry Hill did on Todd Carty. Seriously, we fell off our chair laughing when we first saw it.

It's a well-known fact that white is not an easy colour to wear, and white that also clings tightly to certain parts of your body is even more tricky to pull off. However, if you're a Hollywood star and dressing in fab frocks is all just part of the day job, then we suppose tight white doesn't cause an issue. Well, it certainly hasn't for these three ladies. Michelle Williams, Marisa Tomei and Lindsay Lohan all took a shine to this sexy Alexander Wang number, but who do you think wears it the best? Michelle was the first to take the frock out for the night last year, and she teamed it with on-trend ankle boots and glowing make-up; Marisa went next, preferring to cover up more of hers with an oversized blazer, while Ms Lohan stepped into hers for an Oscars after-party and opted for little black heels, lots of bling and, erm, no hint of a bra. Chris Brown due in court over alleged Rhianna abuse

Singer Chris Brown is due to appear in a Los Angeles courtroom today on allegations that he assaulted his popstar girlfriend Rihanna, despite the fact that prosecutors have yet to file charges.

According to reports, the police presented their case some weeks ago, but the prosecutors have asked for more information. A call to Mark Geragos, Brown's attorney, had still not been returned by yesterday afternoon.

Brown is free on $50,000 bail after his arrest and while the prosecutors have yet to charge him, he has to return to court as part of his bail release. The District Attorney's office has also declined to comment on when, or if, the singer would be charged for his alleged attack.

The arrest took place after officers from the Los Angeles Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting an assault and found a woman, who had been beaten and bruised in Hancock Park, next to Brown's rented car. However, Rihanna has never been formally identified by the police though she was treated after the incident.

According to TMZ, Mr Geragos is trying to negotiate a possible plea deal with the DA to keep Brown out of jail. Brown has declined to comment on the case beyond his statement on Feb 15 that he was saddened "over what transpired."

Jane Robison, the spokeswoman for the District Attorney's office, said that Brown is required to appear based on a date that was scheduled after his arrest on February 8th.

Robin Williams cancels stand-up tour after health scare

Media in the United States have reported that the star of Mrs Doubtfire was admitted to hospital on Thursday with heart problems.

Mr Williams, 57, said in a statement on his website that the next four performances of his "Weapons of Self-Destruction" show in south Florida have been postponed.

"Williams was experiencing shortness of breath and is currently being evaluated by doctors who are recommending a week of rest," the statement read.

Mr Williams is "currently at a Miami hospital with heart issues and could be laid up for a while" the Miami Herald newspaper reported, quoting anonymous sources.

He was in the unnamed hospital's intensive care unit, the Los Angeles Times added.

Mr Williams won a best supporting actor Oscar for his role in the 1997 film Good Will Hunting and has been nominated for an Academy Award for three other movies. These include Good Morning Vietnam, The Fisher King, and Dead Poets Society.

He has been on an 80-city comedy tour since September performing to sold-out crowds, his website said.

According to his website, tickets for his New York dates - his first in the city since 2002 - sold out in under 10 minutes.

He will appear in the sequel to Night at the Museum, Battle of the Smithsonian, later this year as President Teddy Roosevelt.

Michael Jackson: dates announced early

Posters have already started to appear on the London Underground advertising 10 shows in July at the venue.

Jackson is due to make a "special announcement" this afternoon.

Fans in the UK are waiting for the pop superstar to announce a series of comeback concerts at the O2 arena in London.

Jackson fans have begun to gather outside the Lanesborough Hotel in London.

The gigs will mark the 25 year anniversary of the release of Jackson's 'Thriller' album. He last performed in 2006, at the World Music Awards, also in London.

But he disappointed fans at that event by singing just a few lines of We Are The World. He last toured 12 years ago.

The O2, in Greenwich, south-east London, is the venue where Prince played for 21 nights in 2007, and where Britney Spears is performing for eight nights in June.

Jackson would be likely to follow a similar pattern of a run of gigs at one venue, rather than an extensive tour.

His last substantial series of concerts came in 1996 and '97, when he played 82 shows in 58 cities as part of the History tour. His last album of original material came out in 2001.

I eat more than anyone I know, so I have to be realistic – that might not always be the situation. That’s why I chose really intense training. It was a question of, if I want to continue eating that much, I need to balance it out.”

Back on February 8th he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend Rihanna, and today (March 5) Chris Brown is due to appear in a Los Angeles court.

The “Kiss Kiss” crooner is still yet to be charged for the incident, and today’s proceedings are the next step in determining whether or not he’ll face criminal charges.

Brown could also see his case delayed, and in addition the District Attorney’s office could end up declining to file formal charges as a result of a lack of evidence.

One source revealed that on the night of the attack Rihanna told the police that Chris had attacked her in the past and that his violence was getting progressively worse.

In addition, there is rumored to be a photograph of Rihanna’s face that is far worse than the one leaked last month.

"When I saw the video of Jasmina it broke my heart. It is so unfair that for a black patient it's so much harder to find a bone marrow match," the singer told People magazine. "Jasmina has acute leukemia and she needs a bone marrow transplant to live."

The second time that she's helped with such a cause, Rihanna adds: "Leukemia is the most common disease children in the U.S. die of and we need to change that. I urge everyone to sign up as a bone marrow donor with DKMS. If we have more donors, we can save more children like Jasmina."
